Xenon Secondary Projectors

Anyone know if the inner xenon projector function? I tried the other day but they stayed off even when you turn on the high beam.

I'm confused. Are you saying the inner projector(inner section of the LEDs) dont light up?

I always thought they did.

Shine a flashlight in them and you'll probably see an empty hole and some wires. That's how it is on the F25s. The inner lens is there for symmetry and aesthetics only. The High beam is the same as the low beam only when in high a diaphragm opens up.

It will be interesting to see if you can mount aftermarket driving lights behind the inner lens.

Traditionally the inner lights are the flashers.

I think the angel eyes are the daytime driving lights.

Yeah but the F30 has Bi-Xenon, that means one projector at each side that serves high and low beam.

Not sure about the F30. If it helps on my E90 the outer eyes are the bi-xenons (low and high beam) the inner eyes are halogens that operate at low speeds when cornering, they illuminate the side of the road in the same way as other cars use a fog light to do so. The angel eye rings are DRL and sidelights depending on outside light levels/if headlights are active.

However the inner eyes looked blank on the E92 I saw in the show room the other day.

The inner lights on the F30 are entirely bogus; they are merely decorative to maintain the BME styling cue of four circular headlights.

LOL

On the F30, the inner projector dont light up jack... they are empty, there is nothing behind them... they are here only for appearance... just like the angel eye LEDs...

The outside projectors are Bi-Xenon... meaning they do two duties: low and high beam... in low beam, there is a mechanical cover behind the projector... in high beam, the cover is lifted up and full beam shines ahead...

no need to have separate and duplicate projector source....
one source on each side with a mecanical cover that flips up and down...

simple...

It's funny, cause I knew xenons are a one-and-done contained unit, but never even gave a second thought to the 4 lights on the front. LOL

.....and the quest begins to put something in those areas........

Maybe super bright LEDs for long distance illumination in unpopulated areas.

Gotta admit they do look great tho with dual lens'.

The angel eyes might just be for appearance but they make the front end.
