Enable speed limit on HUD without Driver Assistance package?
I did some reading and didn't find anything - but is it possible to code the HUD to show speed limit information without the driver's assistance package (front view camera)? I read somewhere that the car uses speed limit info from GPS and will change based on what the camera picks up, so I assume it'd be possible to show whatever the navi knows.
My car is a 2012 328i with CIC/Navi/6WA. |

Would it be possible for me to buy the front camera (the one behind the rear view mirror, right?) and code the car with the feature? Would this require a FSC code to unlock the functionality?

At a minimum, you would need to retrofit Kafas2 Camera, and you would need a 7E SLI FSC Code issues by BMW AG for your VIN.

There's now a KAFAS emulator that will allow the display the speed limit information based on the navigation map data. It doesn't actually have a camera to read the signs, but allows SLI to be coded and enabled via coding to show up in the cluster or HUD.
I have not tried this myself, but I'm considering it. See this thread: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=653573 |
