Anyways, I'll prob just pay it but I thought getting a ticket and parking structures were antonymous
Don't be silly, it wouldn't be a $25 pile of change on the sidewalk, you have to scope it out.

Or you can do what the crackheads do and stand at an intersection with a sign saying "Didn't follow CA law, BMW ticketed, please help, need $25".

Someone backed into my GF's car while it was parked in front of her work. I guess the dude had a giant trailer hitch that punched a large square hole through her front plate, plastic plate mount and the bumper.

She got the same parking ticket for no front license plate right in front of our house, even though she had the plate. I spoke to some random cop trying to get him to sign off on it but he said since it's not a fixing ticket he could not do anything and we have to pay. His words were "Just pay $25 and move on, but i would get new plates if i were you, because these cunts will ticket you over and over". Basically if more than 1/4 of the plate is missing, it is considered a "no plate", even though she was missing 1/8 of the plate tops.

We went to DMV to have the plate re-issued, and they refused to do it because they only re-issue if both plates are destroyed or stolen.

Okay when I was in CA, and it has been a while the meter-maids were private companies doing the work for the cities and as such they could only ticket for parking or local ordnance violations. If they are part of the actual police department then I agree with your point.

Eventually, they'll throw one of those giant orange boots on your car. Fear not, because a set of bolt cutters are all you need. Then, once they put out a warrant on you and you get pulled over, don't worry and put it in sport +, I've driven a police interceptor and they have nothing on the N55. Now once the radio gets on you, don't worry, you'll only have "1 star". Try not to shoot any cops or run over them or you'll be bumped up to "2 stars". If you can't get away fast enough, "3 stars" will come and then you're pretty screwed (natl' guard comes in). At this point I'd recommend buying a tank or getting into a plane. Usually parachuting works. If all else fails you'll be out $5,000, wake up in a hospital and have to steal a new car.

But if it's just a fix it ticket, can't you just get a tow hook plate so you dont have to drill holes and then claim it fixed? probably cost you about the same amount either way.

Maybe should have told everyone from the beginning that you have a temp registration to save yourself from the comments.

Regardless, it's your choice to have plates on or not. Some people drive for years without getting caught and some get caught on the first day. Judging by your story, you are the latter.

I drove with no plates on for 5 years and have finally given up. Got tickets from both cops and parking maids. To me it wasn't worth the hassle.

Rho-plate looks pretty good imo, and does the job.

If you had thought to include that tidbit of info in your half-brained OP, you wouldn't have encountered the shitstorm that you did.

Good to know that Indiana still produces some brilliant ones... We are "half brained" as you say because we didn't assume you hadn't gotten your plates.

Colorado requires front plates. The meter maids ticket for it in downtown Denver and Boulder. I haven't run a front plate in 7 years and no ticket. Now watch I get one tomorrow ::crosses fingers::

I don't understand why people who don't run front plates even bother with running rear plates. Just keep the dealer plate on

Not sure what is the BS part in this situation.
You didn't put up a front plate and they got you the ticket that was made to stop what you are doing.

While legally it's true you'll get cited for the same offense, in practice way fewer cops will bother to cite you for missing a front plate vs not having any plates at all.

I mean, you could go extra sneaky and tape a bogus temp registration to the corner of your windshield, but I have no idea what kind of legal trouble that could get you in.
