If I could do it over again, I'd go with a SA build. So many damn rattles with my Munch build. Also, when I first received it, I had to fix the gasket that went over the headliner as it was not installed properly!!

Engine and Transmission = Munich. Everything else, South Africa. Right off the dealers lot the washer system blew it's endcap off twice rendering the washers useless, the front tow hook cover was incorrectly installed and would not stay closed, and the headlights are not aligned with one another. The local BMW dealer fixed the first two, but I forgot to report the last one. All-in-all, a very nicely made automobile.
By the way, not that it's a competition, but when I got it, it had 131 miles, now 2 months later it has 5,500 miles! Glad I didn't lease!

The cars are shipped with the tow hook cover in ur glovebox (or in a small plastic bag hanging on the rearview mirror), & headlight alignment is part of PDI process. |

Since I can't (haven't figured out how to do it) fix it myself, I guess I'll just live with it until my first service appointment and report it then. Life was so much easier with my 7 "do it yourself" Jeeps. Ha!

I got the behind the dash rattle, and something in both B pillars rattles. They said they could fix it, but I just gotta make a 2 day appointment. It's ok, but gosh, just a pain. |

Built in May 2012. Assembled in Munich!
To be honest I really don't think the plant your car was assembled in makes any difference to the overall quality. Ultimately all BMW factories will adhere to the same guidelines and quality control processes. Sure, I have to admit I do like the fact that my car was built in Munich but its more a notion of sentimentality, than I think it is some how 'better' than cars built else where. Yes people have said they have had cars arrive with faults and they think this is down to which plant the car was assembled in. But in reality these faults are simply errors that could happen in any other plant. One might be pleased their car was built in the same plant as the M cars are, and therefor think a higher level of attention was paid to its assembly. However M cars arriving with problems is not completely unheard of is it? Demonstrating that mistakes can happen even in the supposedly 'superior' plants. The bottom line is that we all love our BMW's! I certainly love my F30!

Don't know about that, but told my dealer, Munich. I wouldn't care if Leipzig or Regensburg--IIRC that's where my M3 was built.
