No need to code, since the speedo is close to perfect with F10 tire sizes.
So out of curiosity with 19" tires my F30 shows 47 mph when going 45 mph.

Are you saying the 18" or even 17" would show it going 49-50 mph?

I know can only rely on what others post (which is where you are getting those specs) bu I'm just having a real problem getting my arms around the fact that the 245/275 in 20" would work with a F30 as the OEM 19" 403m are -20mm less.

Besides, those photos show no literally poke compared to photos of 19" F30s with sizes smaller than that - and 437m is ET29/ET40...not that different. There is a poster that tried 19" 275 rear and had scrapping issues.

You have to make a difference between wheel size and tire size.

A F30 with 18, 19 or 20" wheels will show the same speed if OEM F30 tire sizes are used (i.e. 225/45-18 and 255/40-18, 225/40-19 and 255/35-19 and finally 225/35-20 and 255/30-20).

All these tires have almost identical diameter!

There are a lot of factors that influence if an aggressive setup will rub or not. Wheel width and wheel offset, tire width and sidewall height.

When you compare a rear 9x20" ET44 F10 wheel with a rear 10x19" ET40 F80 wheel both with 275 tires you will see that the 437 wheels sits 17mm more aggressive. That's a big difference and it's nothing strange that the F10 wheel fits and the F80 wheel rubs even though both have 275 tires with the same diameter.

I guess I'm of the thought that BMW makes the selection of the 20" easy for us. For my 2017 f36 440ix GC, I'm just going with BMW's OEM 20" M package wheel/tire set. Part # 36112287896 and link is

http://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/47...20--STYLE-624M

So damn expensive but I managed to get a deal for the near future. I'm new to this mod world but I'm lovin doing it slowly and reading all the expertise you guys offer.

Two questions for the experts on this:
1) Other than the increased risk of hitting potholes and thus bending the rims etc.., what's the downside of going from 18" factory OEM to 20" OEM for a new f36? I read "performance" in this thread? Okay, what about it?

And 2) Other than looking cool, what's the upside to going from 18" OEMs to 20" OEMs? I was hoping there were more benefits than just the cool factor.

Admit I don't know those answers even after reading this thread but I'm reading all over this board to educate myself.

Any regrets going with the 405M wheels, in the northeast?

I bought the car with these on it. While I love the look and everything, I probably wouldn't CHOOSE to go with them in the North East. Probably going to look for a set of 19's to drive everyday on and then use the 405m's for shows and stuff. 20" with run-flats bring a few cringes at times.

Can you elaborate any more? Rough ride on potholes? Damage? I love the look of these and am seriously considering getting them, so any info/advice is appreciated.

Get rid of the run flats, drop it a little, and you'll love the 20's

Some potholes can be a little jarring, but no damage. As Styx said, I might just drop the run-flats when they're worn. It'll help a bunch. Just a heads up though, they are a pain to clean, but worth it. I do love the look of them.

Thanks for the info; I really appreciate it. And I assumed they were a PITA to clean... I'm fine with that, considering how much I love the way they look.

Edit: You've got a beautiful car!!

Thanks! It was enough to have me get out of my RS4. That car was amazing but the up keep on it was high and it was higher mileage so it was never going to be a collector (low mileage RS4's hold their value very well right now). I do miss the RS sometimes, the 335 can't compare to a 4.2L V8 with an 8250 redline.

I just ordered a set of Vossen VFS-5 wheels through Vossen's black friday deal and this thread basically sold me on going with 20's. When I first got the car, I always told myself I would only get 19's but 20's look way better seeing some pictures.

The wheels (for those who care) are 20x9 +35 and 20x10 +45. I'll be running the typical 235/35r20 and 275/30r20 tire combo since I am xDrive. (both tires are 26.5" tall)

Now it's definitely time for some KW coilovers...

Mounted 20" 437m rims today. Pardon the dirt, it's really muddy around my house at the moment. Mud flaps actually do quite a bit but can't stop everything.

Lowered on Eibach pro kit.

Looks good. What are the specs of the wheels and tires? Also are you xDrive?

Thanks! Yes it's xDrive, 245/35/20 8.5" front, 275/30/20 10" rear. Don't know the offset but it's flush in the front and maybe proud a couple mm in the rear.
