You're lucky it is that small of a payment. My 328 lease is close to $800/mo here in Canada.

Consumption is not encouraged in socialist countries, and I think it's a good thing. Yanks spend everything they got. And also what they don't have.

I haven't been following this thread at all, but once in a while i see this popping up on the forum... I can't believe this is 15 page long !

But yes i have to admin, the F30 cabin noise / wind noise isn't as quiet as i had expected.

I dont expect anything like a Lexus LS, but this is more noisy and less insulated as i was hoping for when buying this car.

Hey Metrathon ! Where did you live before in order to have owned a Xsara and 520i ???

I'll trade you! I actually would love the opportunity to drive in one of the ones people claim are quiet as I have yet to experience a quiet one.

Europe, Romania. That Xsara was super fun with its 1.6l & 110hp. My first car. I exploited the hell out of it.
The 520i not so fun. Nice car but terribly under-powered. After less than 6 months I had to swap it for a 530i.

Yeah, I for one I'm tired. It's actually what BMW was betting on, when they let the cars out with such a flaw: that ppl will bitch and then they will get tired of bitching and they will continue to buy Bimmers.

Well, guess what. It worked in my case

I did take mine in to get the doors aligned and complain yet again about the road / wind noise.

They agreed that the front doors needed adjusting, but after getting the car back, I didn't notice any reduction in noise at all

As to the to the "wind noise" complaint, the resolution was "they drove another F30 and the wind sound was the same, so it's normal".

For me, most of the noise now seems to be coming from around the the top of the B-pillar by the window. The seals look good and I can't see how that's related to the mirror design.

I'm going to play with it some more this weekend, I have some things I want to try.

I, too, got the "we drove another F30, same noise level" excuse from my dealer. Uh huh. I'm sure they did an in-depth comparison...

Perhaps the problem has gone away with most new cars.

I was driving an F30 hire car a few weeks ago and that was fine, built October 12. Just a whisper of wind noise at high speeds. Much quieter for wind noise than the first F30 I drove.

Hmmm I wonder if more wind noise adds to the sportiness feel that one would get from a 3 series. TBH they could make it alot quieter if they wanted to. Mayb it's part of the strategy

Strange, did or do you notice any differences on B-pillar (actually window sealing or elsewhere (mirror shapes, mould drip etc) ? I presume differences must be visible. Mine (built march 12) definitely has noise around the upper windowglass corner of front door. I easyly can improve by manipulating sealing. Must show agent to convince him..... For me, this is the only major issue I have to make this car excellent. Still hope BMW proposes a good countermeasure. I cannot understand why noise level is worse than the E90 and Audi, Volvo etc.....

Same location as my noise. If I take a rag and hold it in that upper back corner of the side window, it becomes nice and quiet. To me, it is just a matter of sealing it better at the upper edge of the window closure. I think I'm going to order the wind deflectors to see if it makes a difference.

I also asked if there were many other people complaining about wind noise on F30's and I got the expected response: "Nope, you're the only one".

I must be really special!

Good theory!

Maybe I have the "convertible noise package" option on my car.

Don't you hate the "you're the only one" excuse? Do they think people are that naive that they don't have access to a computer to research things?

You should have pointed the dealer to the 15-and-still-going-strong pages thread on the forum. Not adding the other wind noise thread.

Oh, but wait! They already sold the car to you, so you don't matter anymore, cause you're stuck with the car already. Got it now ...

Ain't that the truth! I told my dealer if they could not resolve the issue that I might consider buying out my lease and selling it. When I actually sent him an e-mail for my buy out amount, he asked no questions or didn't try to offer anything else. He just simply sent me the buy out amount with no added verbiage. I was shocked. Isn't it easier to keep a customer than to make a new one. And this is my 4th BMW.

I did mention to him that I did some research online and found many other cases of people complaining about wind noise on F30's.

He dismissed it as "irrelevant internet chatter".

It may be time to find another service department.
