Brigand, where did you get the 50cal sniper!? Did you find it or make it from a smaller 50cal weapon?

Saying that I'm level 24 and have only found about 10 50cal bullets.

I think I found one, although at level 3 gun nut, you can change from .45 to .50 cal.

I do miss the Anti Material rifle from previous game and its AP, Explosive and Incendary rounds.

Bring back the Gun Runners


My main weapons are:

10mm fast firing silenced pistol with large magazine, accurate, equipped by default.

.45 cal assault machine gun, big magazine, fast firing, accurate.

.50 cal sniper rifle, silenced - accurate and silent - thining out the herd, take out fixed guns, sentries, use to trigger cars to explode when targets close to them.

Either Gatling gun or Gatling laser - big buggers and panic mode.

Also carry a nuke launcher and nuke grenade.

Don't equip nuke grenades by default, nothing worse than accidently throwing one....


Make sure you pick a hard nut companion, a 'tank', get them to lure out the big bad stuff.

Make sure you give them a decent weapon though.

I have Danse (Brotherhood of Steel) as my Tank and armed him with a Gatling laser on top of his default weapon).

He soaks up all the crap, if he gets 'killed' I use a stim pack to get him sorted.

I usually send him to the 'front door' after taking out all sentries etc and then let him be a magnet for everything else.

Taking out most stuff from a distance at height or decent cover.

Then close in to finish off and get the glory

I'm still just running around with my dog at the moment doing the minuteman stuff setting up settlements etc. I'm saving the BOS stuff for later in the game

Get shot of the dog.

A companion needs to be able to kill and take punishment.

It's simpler without a dog.

When the dog gets killed the whimpering noises it makes sets my dog off looking around to see where it's coming from, it's quite funny.

Yes have just replaced him with Strong the super mutant, he can carry more crap than the dog too

Arm him with something like Gatling gun (if rich) or something with max damage.

Ghouls, do from a distance shoot legs, they fall over and crawl about, then just walk up and slot them in the head.

I got shot of the dog because my (real) dog wouldn't stop barking at it! Nearly put me off carrying on with the game at first!

I need to upgrade my daughters PC so she can play Fallout 4.

It's at that - upgrade or new PC stage.

An upgrade may be a bit of a Triggers Broom scenario lol.


Mine is due upgrade end up next year or so.

New motherboard (maybe) definitely new chip, 2 X GFX's, the rest is fine.

Debating a new 24in monitor for Christmas.

Not going 4K yet.

It's not just for this one game. I've not had a PC for about 5 years as I've been Apple'd and also have a PS4. I'd been thinking about getting another PC for games for a while and after reading this thread and seeing others I've bitten the bullet and ordered some kit. I just have to try and remember how to put it all together as I've not done that for years

I dumped the dog after a few hours play. I kept getting stuck behind him in a corridor or he attacked when I was trying to be sneaky...

I don't like companions or power armour. Like to snipe from the shadows then go in with the shotgun.

I made mine from one I already had.

This and my 10mm are my primary weapons. I don't have a screencap of it but my 10mm is a Legendary that does double damage if the target is on full health. I also have the perk that gives you bonus to pistol damage at max (lvl4/5?) so I do double pistol damage on top of that.

I can one-shot a lot of stuff with the 10mm...

(As you can see from the 895 ammo, I've been scrounging/bying/stealing every .50 cal bullet I could find...)
