Just a note on a slightly different tack - no BMW dealer is going to turn down a $50k+ sale because he wouldn't let the customer buy (extra cost) wheels.

I wonder if they'll ever make a backup camera standard? Isn't this going to be federal mandate at some point? Sort of off topic I know but I wonder what year (maybe 2021) when a base 3 series will come with things that you get in a $14000 Hyundai rental sub compact...

So, the 2018 Order Guideline is up on the forum but still no official announcements with possible images? Or, will they show all this on 7/1/17? What do you think is the timeline for g20 for USA? Reveal at end of 2017 at an AutoShow and then available to order 7/1/18? for late fall 2018 as a 2019? Does that sound accurate?

Back-up cameras are mandated from MY18 forward.

The F30 will be produced through 10/18. We'll probably see a G20 reveal in the late summer or fall of 2018, but we likely won't see production vehicles arriving stateside until early 2019.

Thanks for your input. I was hoping for sooner since I'm planning to look at ordering around February-April if 2018 and was hoping g20 details would be out by then to know if should hold off for it. Now, with motortrend announcing the 2 series will no longer come in manual I wonder if next gen 3 series will exclude manual trans. M2 still come in Manual?

Are we sure MY18 F30 production ends in 10/18?

There was only 1-2 months of no production between the E90 (12/10) and F30 (2/11) in the US. Based on my understanding, the US actually got the F30 2 months before EUR, which started F30 production in 4/11.

With technology improvements and stiffening competition, I don't see BMW letting there be more than 1-2 months without producing the 3 series (for US at least). If F30 ends in 10/18, I think G20 will start 11/18 or 12/18 at latest, assuming F30 definitely ends production in 10/18.

G20 will be in production by 2/18 - 4/18, if not sooner, unless something goes horribly wrong.

As a guess, based on M5 not getting MT, general business direction by BMW, and the 8AT being superior from a performance and efficiency perspective, I'd share your concern regarding the G20 getting MT.

I don't think that there's any certainty about anything, but the educated speculation - including from our own well informed source, Jason - has definitely said a 10/18 EOP.

Keep in mind that there's a difference between production and delivery. Take a look at the G30 intro as an example. The F10's EOP was 10/16. The G30's SOP was 11/16 but it took until 1/17 before cars started to arrive in the US. Seems pretty reasonable to me considering production and transit times, but again, everything is just educated speculation.
