F32 no Audible Alarm..?

At the dealer for coding my newly installed (by me) alarm on my E92, I check out the F32s on the lot and asked the sales man if the alarm is stock or optioned. He replied "it has a security system, but no audible siren or beep when locked/unlocked"

That sucks.

Here is a couple of pics of the F32's they just got in :

HATE THOSE FENDER VENTS EVEN MORE THAN I THOUGHT I WOULD.

M sport is a must for sure.

In the past, I think the 3 series coupe had the alarm standard. It looks like per the 4 series configurator, the alarm is no longer standard.

435 has the alarm as standard, 428 doesn't.

Any 435 owners confirm no audible beep with the security system?

ordered the 428 with the anti-theft alarm ($400 option)

CA told me that by default the f32 has a passive alarm system (lock/unlock) and that the option isn't really necessary. the anti-theft alarm option is really just for the audible noise (incl panic button)

waste of $400? maybe. but i didn't want to take any chances at the time i was ordering

Uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but what's the point of a "passive system", if it doesn't have an audible alarm if my car is being broken into?! I didn't drop $400 for a lock and unlock chirp ...

It's another way BMW can gouge us customers with basic shit that should be standard on ANY MODEL. It's disgusting how much they have cut corners to maximize every penny possible with their profits.

It would be fun to look at a Kia or Ford and total up all the standard features that are options on BMW, like Bluetooth and alarm.

I'm not too sure on the details either walls but I figured id be better off getting the option than regretting it later. I was told that if someone breaks the window or whatever that they aren't monitored to the alarm system. (apparently this is common in modern cars? older vehicles used to have this protection but companies no longer give this unless it's a third party installation/system?) again.. im only going by what I was told so I decided to opt for the system just incase anyone was misinformed

Yea, sad, but true.

I would expect Xenons, alarm and moonroof standard!

As others have said:

Standard on the 335 and 435, and available as an option on the other models.

I can confirm that on a 428i, the car does not chirp or beep when you lock or unlock. Not sure if this is a setting somewhere but I did find it really weird it didn't do that.

I had to order the alarm as extra on my 328d. Had a loaner 328i without the alarm and there is no chirp when you lock the door my 328d does chirp when you lock it.

By definition an "alarm" must have a siren. It's just a "security system" if a siren is absent.

Check the option list, most likely does not have alarm system installed.

That would explain it. It has been like this for several years on the 28i.

Oh I definitely didn't order the alarm. I don't think they're useful anymore in this day and age. Living in the city you hear them just as often as you hear a train go by, you never pay attention to them anymore.

What I found weird was that I've had cars in the past that didn't have alarms but still chirped when you locked or unlocked the car. Now I feel the need to look back just to see the lights blink to make sure it locked when before I could just continue walking and get assurance of the door locking from the chirp.
