Hi everyone just trying to watch out for the community but a member on here by the name of "top tank" is trying to scam people. He messaged me on here saying he has a MPE from a 340i available and to email him for details. I took screen shots of the conversation long story short I asked for picture with a paper and his name and today's date along with the product he photoshopped the paper onto the original picture he sent me. And me knowing photoshop very well using it for 10+ years I could tell something was fishy. I overlaid both photos and moved between them and it was the same image with the paper manipulated. My question is if you are legit and have the part why photoshop over the original picture?

Thanks for this, he messaged me about a vrsf "race" intercooler I was looking for and sent me half assed photos of a stepped 5" after telling me it was a race. I felt off about it myself to. Good looking out

No PayPal is a red flag too. I only buy from individual sellers if they take paypal and never send payment as a gift. It might save you a few bucks in fees but your buyer protection goes out the door.

Yes sir, I will only send close people I know I can trust with friends and family rest I send as goods and service and I just pay the 3% fee for the seller since it's an individual person and not a company.

Only pay with PayPal goods and services. Don't ever pay with Zelle, Cash app, and Venmo. You won't be seeing your money ever again. If the seller can't take PayPal, just don't go through with the transaction. More often than not, they're trying to scam.

Another buyer beware is username "chasis"
I searched his email and appears to have been a scammer on several pages

"Gulodeen@gmail.com"

He's used many different accounts
I paid through Venmo only because I used Venmo many times myself, disputed charges through my bank
Should have done my research prior

I used a search on his email, his phone number and it appears he's been banned from here under a different user name for scam, and on m5board

It's really a shame this exists :/
Just teaches me a lesson, as there are still decent people left. You cannot trust anyone still

It's also a shame as I'm a new member here, and it makes it hard on "new" members with recent join dates who are honest, I'm a long standing member of bimmer forums when I had my e36 for 13 years.

I hate scammers, all we can do is look out for ourselves and each other any way we can

I'm on the mobile app, is there anyway to create a sticky on classified posts?
I know there's a vendor/member review but it's not used much it appears

Thanks for the updates guys. I was looking at the clean 437Ms listed for sale the other day and guy kept acting odd and so I gave up and did not know this site had so many scammers. Definitely makes newer members look bad.

I kept my bimmerforums account active so if I need a reference for anything here it can be viewed
I've had that account over 10 years with same username as here
I bought my f30 2 weeks ago so here I am haha
I'm a die hard e36 guy but sold that to get here
There's scammers on every page
This is my first encounter tho, I'm usually better than that, the dude I did business with had listed he was a "veteran" so I didn't even give him a second guess because I support veterans as a few of my best friends, more as brothers, are veterans

Follow Rep + iTrader. Big indicators of scammers are if they have low rep and no iTrader reports. Lots of people send money to me as friends & family to save a few bucks cause i've sold around 10 items. Any new member just pay with only business PP & get as much proof that they possess the item as possible

Dang good info to know, i myself have sold something on here a JB+ that the buyer and myself used Paypal, as i am a verified Paypal user. Just a head's up lol, i will be selling off some parts both slightly used and brand never used parts, the reason being i am selling my 13' 320ix to Carvana as soon as i get the BM3 tune back to stock..Keep an eye out for user: DadzBmer_N2o

Thas a shame, and sorry you had to go thru that. I am also a Veteran, Retired Coastie, but i am trustworthy and that guy is abusing his status and making us look bad in the process..

First and foremost thank you for your service sir.
It's a shame people are the way they are, but it makes the good people stand out even more so.

I just hate the divide it creates in the car community to have scum bags making it more challenging to trust people.
