there is an option within iDrive

Why are the TPMS replacement units for this car so pricey ? They were like 27$ each for my C63

Is it me or does it not tell you which tire is low? I have the tech/nav package and when the light comes on it just lights up all 4 wheels. I read about the coding to tell you what the actual pressure is, but shouldnt it tell you which tire is low??

I need help. I bought a 2014 335i xdrive that I have had for a week. I bought a set of gently used bmw 397 sport line wheels with tires and tpms. I tried to reset the tpms system within idrive however it says tpms system malfunction. It got to 49% the first time then crapped out. I think the wheels came off of a 2012 f30. Would the tpms sensors be different?

I believe that tpms prior to the march 2014 manufacture date are different than post march 2014 manufacture date.

I'm sort of in the same situation. I've got my working sensors in my 17" wheels, but after getting my 20", I have been running the car without sensors.

Depending on what wheels you're planning to swap, and the weather in ny, if you do not plan to get new sensors just put the old ones in the wheel set you will be driving in the majority of the time. I'd imagine that you have one set of more winter tires and one set of summers. Thats 3 months on winter and 9 months on summer? (correct me if weather in ny is not like this). Put the sensors in summers and call it a day.

I might just bite the bullet and order some new sensors. Seeing the stupid toms light turn on..and getting the I drive warnings every time I start the car will get annoying over time. Can I get these anywhere other than ordering via my bmw dealership? Or do I need to get the factory ones?
Thx again everyone

I understand there is a world wide supply issue and BMW are struggling to fulfil orders at the moment, therefore it may be difficult to get the Continental ones out with the dealer network at the moment / for some time until supply issues are addressed.
I bit the bullet and got mine from a dealer.

thx moonshine for the update
well... the more that i think abt it... i can probably live with it for a few months. when i slap my stock wheels back on in the winter... i can readdress the issue next spring.

that should hopefully allow time for the shortage to correct itself
thanks again for the information.. much appreciated!

Found these pictures showing the difference between the2 new sensors depending on your build date.

Part #36106798872 by Huf (top picture)
Part #36106856209 by VDO (bottom picture)

Same thing just happened to me (today) - I swapped the 401M wheels with a set of 442M summer wheels (OEM with TPMS); I am going to the dealership and discount tire tomorrow. Any updates?

Just looked at mine - the 401s have the VDO - the 442s have the Huf - the huf are causing the issue.

Confirmed with the dealer and discount tire - I need the new TPMS units. Current are showing 20psi when they are properly inflated. The most interesting part...

Dealer quote$550
Discount Tire quote$500

$50 well worth it to have the dealer handle it!

what to use?

I have a 2013 328i xdrive. Apparently there are two sensors that were used with this F30 chassis. I purchased some new wheels to use for winter tires but they need to outfitted with TPMs. Can I use any brand of TPMs as a set that are compatible with the 433Mhz transmission signal or do the TPMs and sensor need to match by manufacturer?

I tried to find out what part no was appropriate for my car through the dealer, but they would not give out the part no. The last 6 digits of my VIN are 535591, which apparently is enough to identity the appropriate TPM. Would someone clarify for me what I need to use with the new wheels to have the TPMS continue to function when the new wheels are mounted?
Thanks

Whatever you do, you need a new dealer. Anyone that won't give you the part number is simply trying to prevent you from shopping the part number around. Imagine what else they'd do to your car -- or your pocketbook if you let them.

Let's hear it from someone who has put wheels on with no TPMS
Didn't read the whole thread but I just drove a week with no TPMS, only issues I had were the TPMS light and you can drive in Sport or Sport+, you can still kick the shifter over into sport mode but that's as close as you can get.
