The Service Director looked at it , played around with the car for a couple of minutes (looked through the i-Drive menu, tried easing up to another car to see if it would turn on automatically like some X vehicles do) and then said he's "never seen a mis-build before" and agreed to order the parts to add the button, like every other car on their lot with PCD.

I am thankful for the PDC set up every day. Amazing way to be aware of traffic and obstacles as I get older. The extra 5 cameras and sensors are incredible. Not much extra money and definitely saves dings.

I have PDC with rear-camera only (not the 360 view). The front sensors only come on if I hit the PDC button (I would prefer this to be automatic). Both front and rear sensors come on by default when in reverse.

They installed the missing PDC button in my car today so all is well. They noted on the service report that when they ran the diagnostic program, it gave them an error..."PCD button bad"......actually it was missing altogether !!

And we wonder how a car can leave a dealership with little to no oil......

I got a new X3 loaner and noticed that the front PDC sensors automatically turn on at low speed (like they should). Does anyone with a new 2016 LCI know if their PDC automatically turns on at low speed?

I do. It comes on with the camera when you put it in reverse. It won't come on by pressing the console button unless the car is stopped. When I enter a parking space head first I bring the car to a stop well before any obstacle or car in front of me, push the button, then continue forward until the beep becomes a constant tone. I have mine set so that happens at one foot away.

^This. I do the exact same thing so I can use the front sensors to park near bumpstops/curbs, etc. Works amazingly well .

As an aside, I have #3 also, and prefer to use the front camera set button (one up from PDC) for closing in on the concrete curbs when front first parking. Once you figure out where the yellow lines are, it works great.
Otherwise, I 've gotten over the idea that it's a big deal to have to push the PDC to activate the beeping warnings and top view going fwd. Options... worth the pain of having to choose..

Hi all - quick question related to PDC. I have a 2017 F31 touring, with rear PDC (no button in the center piece, as it doesn't have front PDCs.
The system kicks in when I put the car in reverse (its a manual), which is perfect. But I would love to be able to code that the PDC deactivate when the gear leaves reverse (either in neutral or 1st gear). I have tried with a Carly OBD reader, but that doesn't work. Would it be possible to code it with Bimmercode? According to BMW Denmark it cannot be done. But I honeslty cannot grasp why it can not be coded. In case not possible - can the button be retrofitted? thanks for your help. |

Is it possible and relatively easy to install the button for rear PDC (not having front sensors)? What would it cost roughly?
