Nice, way to stand your ground. I'm sure it was difficult to walk, but much respect to you for doing so.

If I were in that situation, I don't know that I could have taken delivery of the car either, knowing that it had been damaged. With the offer for a new car, I don't know that I would have pushed for the DAP + $1500. Just the package at no cost would have been satisfactory for me. Though depending on their attitude throughout the ordeal, I may have been completely turned off from wanting to do biz with them at all.

Sounds like they offered the package at cost, meaning invoice, not no cost. But if you negotiate your purchase as invoice plus $xxx (as you should) then you basically get the options at cost anyway. Or said another way which options you choose doesn't impact dealer profit, so getting an option added at "cost" isn't really much concession.

Good for you OP. A man got to have a code.

Yep, that's pretty hardcore. But I certainly can respect it.

I am surprised they offered so little to you. I guess that made it easier anyway.

Their attitude is pretty poor considering it happened on their watch. It's not like it was a factory mess up beyond their control.

Glad to hear you stood your ground. It just stinks now that they'll probably paint a new bumper and not even tell the buyer.

I think you made the right move, easy for me to say walk but to actually do it after waiting two months for the car, my hats off to you. I'll be watching for pics of your new and undamaged 340 and hope I see them soon.

Apparently can't be done. Their position was they were correcting the problem, and I should be satisfied. They did offer to order another car. I told them I'd like the same vehicle, same offer, plus the drivers assistance plus package (retail $1700) less $1500 dollars for the screw up and starting the process all over again. Their concession was they'd give me the additional package at "cost." I asked they make a concession for messing up a car I've already waited two months to receive. They said they couldn't do that.

I walked. Basically their stance was take the repaired car as new or order at the same "deal" you could have had two months ago, and begin the whole routine over again.

I have a lead on an Atlanta salesperson. Will probably place a new order through him. In the end, I feel bummed that the car was damaged, but good that I did what I felt was right.

Really, thanks for all the suggestions.

Don't blame you one bit... and it is ridiculous that they breached the contract but wouldn't consider compensating you for the inconvenience caused by their breach.

I'm surprised the dealer didn't offer up more. But I guess they feel they can move the car.

Similar situation happened to me last Nov. with a Mazda 3. But I didn't become aware the front bumper cover had been replaced until after delivery. As folks said, stuff like this happens. I got all the paperwork related to what happened during transport and the repair.

No insurance claim or Carfax hit.

Of course they do. Because they won't mention it to any prospective buyers.

I kind of feel like the OP should contact car fax with the VIN and the picture, mentioning that no report was filed by the dealer. Also, the OP should post on review websites for the dealership with the VIN, picture, and what happened. Maybe a prospective buyer will see.

Good on you OP... walk. Their mistake is inexcusable. They should have at least thrown in some M Perf parts or something. Offered you a free front splitter?

Good decision walking away man it may seem hard now, but you'll thank yourself when picking up your new (and hopefully undamaged) car.

That dealership sounds like trouble. Complete A-holes. Props to you for standing firm and walking away.

Good for you. And please do not give them all 10s. Of course they wanted to blame the damage on someone else
