BMS Intake vs aFe Momentum Pro 5R
I installed the BMS intake for the F30 335i a few days ago. It is loud! I like the blow off sound and some whistling but there is a particular noise I do not like when I am cruising at about 10% throttle. It is the intake sucking in air but it sounds like a tunnel or some thing a rough sound and it seeps into the cabin and would make you think some thing was wrong or loose on the intake side but I checked everything is fine. So I ordered the aFe Momentum intake I am hoping that since it is partially enclose not as much noise will be heard inside the cabin. I like a little but not so much, if that aFe does not work out for me I will go back to stock maybe drill some holes in the stock box and see if that gives me some noise.

That sound is completely normal for any open intake at very light throttle/cruise. I don't particularly like it either, but it's not bad enough to make me want to change to an enclosed intake.

The open air intake is loud and that is expected.
From what you have described, it sounds that you will like the closed intake better

Speaking of open air intakes.. I love the sound of the turbo spooling.. Which one out there is probably the loudest so far? I don't think the videos of these intakes on Youtube are doing them justice but so far BMS does sound really good... and it fits like it's almost a OEM stock open-air intake.

OP sorry to burst your bubble but I have the EXACT same complaint with my AFE momentum intake... it's the same sound you're describing and I hate it so much I'm considering going back to the stock intake. But yea you will get the same result with the AFE.

Installed the AFE Momentum today. Definitely what I was looking for as far as sound. About 50% more quiet than the BMS intake. But in a good way personally you still get the nice blow off sound but no strange whistling under light throttle. Fit and finish was slightly better as well, but price is also higher..

Also from what i can tell the Momentum intake's dyno chart shows an increase in power, but more importantly it does not sow a dip in power low in the band. I love the sound of open filters, but hate that you have to sacrifice low end power to gain it up high. If the Momentum give you the best of both, i might have to get this one. |

Any thoughts about the Injen sp intake for the F30/32 335/435?
i have seen a lot of talk about both bms and afe. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this one? http://europeanautosource.com/bmw/4-...ll&order=price |
