Random not "staying"
When I am listening to my music, each time I start the car, I need to go to options and check the random choice.
Am I missing something or is this just another engineered thought process from Germany? |

Random only sticks if you remain in the same place in your media hierarchy.
If you were listening to your Best Of The Beatles playlist, hit Random, listened for 30 minutes, and then turned off the car, the minute you re-started the car it would pick up where you left off and Random would still be functioning. But if you jump to another playlist or another artist or another genre or another album, the Random feature is removed until you re-engage it again. BMW's logic appears to be that if you wanted to listen to Best Of The Beatles in a random fashion, that's good, but if you jumped to Dark Side Of The Moon and it continued in Random, that's bad. |

So it would appear that if you are listening to the "mother" folder randomly, (sub-folders) turn off the car, and restart it. It has turned off the random. Is this what they call over-engineered?

Random always turns off when playing back from the HDD, I don't know why they designed it that way.
Random stays on when playing back form a USB thumb drive. |

Random does not stick with Music Collection mode. It is a known issue since the E90. Looks like F30 has the same bad habit. It used to be worse where it would leave Random if you skipped a track, too. Random will stick when playing from the armrest USB port. Music Collection has become an afterthought!!
