New Firmware: NBTG.. HUD Junction view

On previous versions of the NBT if you coded HUD Junction View you would get an unreadable image for the junction. The functionality was pretty much useless.

I decided this option now in the NBT after the update to NBTG firmware and Bingo clear and awesome feature enabled, great feature!

Sure I'll turn it on next time I go out and send a pic. I didn't even know you were allowed to have HUD with the CIC....

I just updated to the 2015 maps for my country. Since this is MAP dependent I am going to see if the images change

I agree this is def one of the nicest features of the HUD.

Hi,

This is really great; all I get is an orange schematic rendering in my HUD. I have two questions:
  • What is your ISTA/P or Integration level?
  • What items did you code?

Thank you very much

If we update firmware on the NBT we should be able to get the nicer rendering? If so does anyone know how to do this?

Understand that anytime you flash new firmware on an ECU, you run the risk of bricking it.

But is you choose to flash it, you will need E-Sys with PSdZData Full version, and to put the car on a commercial grade charger, good for 50 amps minimum, as you cannot run the motor while flashing.

Here are the basic steps to flash NBT and HUD:

Go to Comfort Mode => TAL-Calculating
- Read and Save FA
- Activate FA
- Read and Save SVT Actual as SVT_ist
- Create an SVT Target
Under KIS/SVT Target Calculation Strategy, select Complete Flash
Select I-Step (shipm.) to match your original I-Level as read and shown in VCM I-Step (Shipment)
I-Step (target.) will be unselectable as it is fixed based on current PSdZData I-Level
Do a KIS/SVT Target Calculation and Save as SVT_soll
- Do a TAL Calculation and Save as SVT_tal

Go to Expert Mode => TAL-Processing
Load TAL (SVT_tal)
Load SVT Target (SVT_soll)
Select "Read FA" button.
Check radio button for "read VIN out of FA"
On ECU Tab, uncheck let top box in column "All" (All checked boxes should toggle to unchecked)
On ID Base Row for HU_NBT, KOMBI, and HUD make check boxes in blFlash, swDeploy, cdDeploy, and ibaDeploy columns.
Press Check software availability
Press Start and it will proceed with processing TAL to flash NBT, KOMBI, and HUD with new firmware.

Shawn,

I'm a little confused.

While I understand your very clear explanation of flashing an ECU to update firmware, if your car had an ISTA/P upgrade, does that include what flashing ECU would accomplish. Specifically, I have an H series HU_NBT in my 2014 F30, but while at dealer recently, car had its ISTA/P upgraded to 2.53.2 -- 2.53.3; did that accomplish the same as if I were to flash HU_NBT? If so, then I guess, the question is what is MyFastM3 new Integration level?

Am I missing something?

Yes, dealer programming the car with ISTA/P and Flashing with PSdZData accomplishes the same thing.

If you are on 53.3, and you have coded HU_NBT => JUNCTION_VIEW_HUD = aktiv, and yours does not look improved like his does, then his car may be on 53.4 or 53.5.

Hopefully it is not a hardware issue where the F80 Kombi / HUD is different. Obviously ///M Kombi is different, but I mean specifically related to the Junction View.

It's not about having the graphic on the Nav screen, it's about having the graphic projected onto the windscreen using the Heads up display.
I strongly suspect you don't have the HUD aspect of the full colour lane info with your CIC Nav

It doesn't make a difference to local junctions, which are still in orange , but it does make a significant difference to motorway slip roads etc. Now the lane directions are much more obvious in 3d colour graphic on the HUD vs the small orange lane selection arrows at the bottom.
I found the orange lane arrows quite easy to overlook.
