Speeding ticket

Thought I'd share some depressing stuff.
I had my e46 for about 10 years with no speeding tickets. Got my 328 f30 in Oct and already got my first ticket. Sobriety test passed but no front licence plate and a speeding ticket. A stupid Honda was trying to race and my stupid self went for it. Winner got busted right away. I got a catless dp, fmic, and cp pending install but not so motivated to install it anymore. Maybe f30 sticks out more, maybe loud injen intake didn't help lol.

Sorry to hear that. Well, I guess lesson learned )
That being said - hire an atty or fight the ticket yourself [do not plea guilty and show up in court / stance your position before the judge] !! You may have it reduced to a reckless driving or something if your license is more or less clean, or being dismissed altogether if a redneck trooper is a no-show ))
Good luck !

Thanks. I was hoping you get the front plates installed and get it dismissed. I just got my plates mid December and the fronts don't have braketes or drill holes.
I have never fought a speeding ticket but I'm going to try on this one. I really don't think I was going as fast as he said and there was construction cones in front of my lane so hoping to use that lol

Come up with some BS story .. tell 'em you switched the metering mode from mph to km, and didn't realize you switched right back after "system testing" was done, and was under the impression that you were driving in kms mode while you were actually in mps Hope that would fly. It did for me two years ago when I got slapped with 88mph [Back to the Future stuff man ))) near the Canadian border [effin' I-95]

Pay the fine, lesson learned. The chance of getting a ticket tossed in a he said/he said scenario is zip if you're on a dash cam recording.

Be careful with that defend. Make sure your city/state doesn't have a law that double the penalty in a construction zone.

PA and NJ do...

That's one lousy defense if you ask me. Don't make excuses when you screw up; just pay the fine and learn a lesson from it!

He got you with laser or radar? I would recommend uniden radar detector or ALP laser jammer.

Get the plate holder that goes where the tow hook goes, no need to drill holes

Don't think he got me with anything. I was at a light and he was in an unmarked vehicle about 5 cars back and 3 lanes over. It wasn't a construction zone, just one barrel/cone in my lane blocking a pothole. It was definitely a lesson learned though.
Good luck on yours bimmerman45.
Voooonoo thanks for too, didnt know about that.

Get a ticket lawyer. Pay the fine, costs & legal fee. 99% of the time a traffic lawyer can get the MPH knocked down on a plea bargain to no points or insurance notification. Its a crap shoot but you best shot.

You use the lawyer you don't go to court & hope for the best. Think my daughter has one on retainer So far she has zero points & a good driver discount on her insurance. The Porsche made her do it.

BTW agree if its not on the ticket keep your mouth shut on the construction even a barrel in the road.

I got popped for no front plate a while back and while he was at it, I got hit for tinted front windows. Luckily I have some friends with LAPD due to the nature of my job, so I 'had a guy' and he got my ticket dismissed so I luckily didn't have to go through the whole process of removing the tint and all that. I went ahead and got a front plate installed and since they are black CA legacy plates, it honestly looks fine. I never removed the tint. The cop said he wouldnt have pulled me over based on tint alone but the double header is what got me. I installed the front plate after that cuz I don't need to be drawing any more attention to myself or car. The tints stay though, haha. So far no problems since.

Lol to your daughter having one on retainer. Okay, no mention of pothole up front. Thanks for advice

Yeah I never got hit for illegal tint on the e46. I'm in Houston and have several hpd friends. Maybe i can get them to be the "had a guy" haha. Thanks though, you getting popped makes me feel semi better. I'm not alone

Stoplight racing is always a no win scenario for us. If you win you'll get called an a**hole for driving a BMW. If you lose, well, you lose. IN A BMW. Don't play that game.

Front plate they will nail you for in CA. Tints they couldn't care less unless you get pulled over for something else. Tint would have been the biggest drag because you have to pay to remove, go get the inspection and signed off on, pay the fines and then go back to pay to have the tint put back on. My guy at PD really hooked it up. He took my ticket, got it stamped and signed off on at the precinct and I mailed it off with the $25 and it was done. I have 35% ceramic tint up front and limo in the rear. Having it to do over again I would not have gone as dark as limo in the rear but the kids love it i.e. zero glare from the sun, keeps the car cooler and its total privacy. But at night the rear window is basically useless and I rely on side mirrors.

What looks retarded to me is when guys are so precious about their front bumper that they get that weird tow hitch license plate frame and have it awkwardly mounted off to the far left on the front bumper. Looks ridiculous. What is such a big deal about drilling the front bumper? Its not a work of art, its a mass produced BMW that like 70% of the population seems to drive, at least around here anyway. Looks much cleaner w/no front plate at all but 'round here, its a big glaring excuse for the man to pull you over. Then maybe they get you for this thing or that thing and maybe you were out having a few beers with friends and whammo.

Not sure what the correlation is between the E46/F30 and the ticket, unless the E46 would have lost to the Honda. Anyway, I suspect most bimmerpost members envy your one ticket per decade average.

Skene license plate bracket requires holes, but they are not visible unless you lay down in front of your car.

In the corrupt NYC traffic courts Lawyers never win! They are only worth there weight in money spent if you get a DWI or super excessive speeding(racing). But generally with speeding here in NYC, fuggetaboutit!!!!

If your state allows you to speak to a DA that hangs around the traffic court then speak to the DA to get the fine reduced to a seatbelt or something. You'll save $ vs getting an attorney.

NYC(5 Boroughs) is very very tough. NY State is a lot more lenient compared to the city where you can plea bargain by having a DA or an attorney.

@Kafkaesque328, HA! 4+ years in CA with no front plates (knock on wood!). TWICE for limo tint; but I 'had a friend' who took care of it. Tint costs too much to remove. Hell no.

Haha I guess I can't be too depressed for ticket in 10 plus years. Did not know that about NYC being so strict. In Houston the tint, licence plates, and registration/inspections don't really get you pulled over. You'll get that ticket if they catch you speeding or something like that.
