My day at BMW Winter Driving Training in the new 335i F30 Sport

BIMMERPOST

Yesterday, I was went to the BMW Winter Driving Training in Montreal. We are all so sure the cars would be the E90 335i but to our surprise the cars were ALL F30 335i Sport! I was one of the 4 lucky ones to have the 6 speed manual! What a car! Smooth powerful! What a day! Here are some pics. I have videos that I will try to post a bit later. We did slalom, reverse 180 (going reverse up to 40km and then flip the car, shift to 2nd and go forward), oversteer in an "hour glass'' shape track (that was the most fun), etc...all on snow and ice...! And with DTC off and no ABS (the instructors opened the hood and unplugged something for no ABS) A few thoughts on the car (I have a 2000 323ci and 2011 328xi):

-Very smooth and powerful
-When I stalled (a couple of times , the car re-started on its own...!
-Doesn't seem to have more space than my 328xi
-Shifter is as smooth
-Even with no ABS, the car stops great
-All dash buttons are very similar, not much change there
-I find the aluminium trim is not as nice. There was another sport model in the club house and it had the black trim which is much nicer
-the car looks better than in pictures

I want one...

Awesome, what kind of tires are those? they look like summer foot prints in the snow but i could be totally wrong, they are probably winter tires, but look summer lol

Nice pictures, thanks for posting!

I saw the new F30 at the Toronto AutoShow today and I like it more than I thought I would.... Sport Line was my favorite, despite the fact I usually like a lighter interior with dark wood trim. The Luxury Line not having sport suspension and sport seats rules it out for me and the Sport Line has nice red stitching on the seats and steering wheel.

I disliked the front when it first came out but it's definitely growing on me. I think it actually looks very good in the darker colors. Looking forward to seeing the M-Sport version in the flesh this fall.

Hmm.... maybe I will take this course next year... I had fun at the summer ones.

the mystery sponsor

It was me !

My company organized this event for our clients. Two of my employees got to drive as well. It was at the iCar track in Mirabel, Qc.

We are in the information security field so this was a lot of fun, being completely outside our usual routine.

Thanks for the pics Carsurfer and good job keeping the guests anonymous.

We are definately going to do this again in the summer. Too bad the Fascination (M3 course) is so damn expensive.
