Does the dash data change color?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I noticed in the "honeymoon w/F30..." thread about a forum members Euro delivery, with LOTS of pictures, that the dash readout changes color.

In day picts, the info between the guages is in a whitish/blue color, but in night shots with the lights one that data changes to all standard BMW orangy-red.

Am I seeing that correctly? The lettering changes color from day to night mode?

If so, that explains now why I'm seeing so many dash variations.
I wish I had my F30, then I'd know.

I wish it would stay white at night like the E93 M3.

Can't you set the color at night? The daylight white comes from the printed white color that is backlit by orange or white I think at night.

I think I read from somewhere that it is white when headlights are off (day) and orange when headlights are on (night). It might have been for 5er. I am not sure any more. It might be something for this forum.

thats not fully correct but I can see how it can be confused. you can have your lights on in the day and it still shows white. Auto headlights can kick in and if the sensors still think its brights for the cabin it will remain white. It has to be night for it to change or driving in a dark parking garage.

Yes, and an intriguing aspect of the car. Similarly, the auto highbeam feature cannot be invoked if it is insufficiently dark outside. Overall the automatic systems make pretty good decisions.

If you really want the lights to stay white when the light gets dark outside, I have a good feeling it can be solved by coding... guess that's one of the things I'll be looking into tonight xD

Note: Many PM me for links to the software needed to code. Please note that I do not have download links to this software. Your best bet is using the search function in the coding thread

My 135i only has red info lettering, no change.
My E46 also only had red, no change.

So, not really every BMW ever.

Ah, mis-read it -- I missed the word "between" the gauges. Thought he just meant the speedo and tach data.
