Driver Side A Pillar Rattle

Been going on for months and BMW can't figure it out. Seems like it's coming from upper driver side A pillar. Any thoughts? It's driving me crazy lol.

Have you checked under the hood near the base of the windshield for some trapped leaves or something that is being buffeted by air in the engine compartment at higher speeds? Does the sound change with vehicle speed?
Does the sound continue with the vehicle stopped/parked? Just brainstorming.
Maybe something in the air vent on the driver's side, something fell in?

Brainstorming is what I need! So it's noticeable only above 50-60 mph and during higher wind. I've checked around that area to find any loose particles under the seals but nothing there. No rattle when parked or slower speeds!
I suspect it's something inside the A pillar that's loose so I tried removing a part of the headliner but can't really see anything. I'll do a bit more hunting inside the actually engine bay.

If you have access to a parking garage, you may try to use a household fan blowing on high and direct it to the A pillar area while you sit inside the car and listen carefully to figure out how the sound is being created and where it is coming from precisely. Move the fan around and see if the sound changes in volume or stops. Stand outside and listen for the sound, etc.

My previous 2013 F30 developed a whistling sound around the A pillar - it was the windshield trim that was loose. It was not noticeably loose but the tech taped the sides and found that to be the source. Yours does sound like some leaves chattering - open the hood and take a leaf blower to blow out any leaves especially in the crevices.

Is the whistling/howling not normal on the F30?

Would not be first time when this buzzing is thought to come from A-pillar: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1494053

I've searched the forum up and down (clearly not hard enough) and never found this post.

Will try this later tonight and provide an update. I'm with them on this one, I was dead set on trading the car in if I couldn't resolve it. Thank you for this link!

Update: Still no luck. Will continue looking around. I suspect it might be the A Pillar still as the noise is most apparent there. Gonna stuff a bunch of felt down there and see what happens.

Update:

Took out the A pillar trim and believe I found the damn thing.

This little metal clip holds the trim to the A pillar. I ended up using gorilla tape and spare Velcro the hold the clip down and keep it steady. Will update tomorrow on the way to work.
