ZF8 after going uphill still raises rpm and shifts once with jerk when is on flat?

I notice that while exiting public garage.

After going uphill, Car is on flat surface and still raise rpm to higher then usual and shifts, only once, harder with slight jerk then continues to shift normally?

F32, LCI, B47, 420d, 69000 thousand kilometers.

When the car is cold? Or hot? Or both? When it's cold it tends to keep the revs higher (to help heat the engine faster) with harder shifts due to cold oil.

Weather was around 5 Celsius. And car, hmm, i would say it reached working temperature minute before that.

And one more thing, this happens only after longer inclines around 60 meters. After 20-30 meters it doesnt happen. I don't know is it something software related or am i doing something wrong.

The transmission is known to be quirky with the 1-2 shift, particularly when first driving off. It doesn't always do that, but certain situations will cause it to hang in first gear longer than usual and then lurch or jerk into second. It's offputting and can definitely come off as a mechanical problem, but is completely normal. I've even noticed it to a much lesser extent when warm.

So, to summarise, do i need to worry and can it cause some failure or damage?

I am new to AT transmissions.

No, as long as it isn't an extremely harsh shift (you'd know). Normal operation and won't cause any damage.

Low gear retention

Near me there is a short, steep slope (maybe 1 in 6) that leads to a mini roundabout, sharp right into a gentle downhill slop. My F31’s (both a pre lci I and an lci) change to low gear on the slow approach uphill, but when turning downhill they retain the low gear for some time, reaching fairly high revs (for diesels).
As they both do it consistently, I have put it down to being a “normal” feature of the ZF8.

Electronic Transmission Control (EGS) is evaluating a lot of data when on hills. Inclination, road load, brake evaluation, wheel speed, to name a few inputs. Simplest thing (in my experience) if not changing as or how you want, intervene on the paddles, or shifter, in those situations.
