USB port help
I have recently bought a f30 2017 with pro nav. I tried using the arm rest USB port to play music but in the idrive menu it just says no USB device detected. The usb is fat32 formatted so should work, I've tried others too but no luck
I tried charging my phone with a cable plugged into the usb socket but that didn't work either? Any ideas? Is there a seperate fuse for this and where would it be? Or could it be a faulty port |

What size of USB stick are you trying? Sometimes these units won't recognize really large ones. I was using a 64GB in mine, with no issues.
I don't think there is a fuse, that would be just for the main head unit. What happens if you plug a phone into that port? |

I just yanked out the port and put it back in and that seemed to have fixed it, must have been a loose wire or something. Thanks anyway |

I just use a 16GB iPod Nano and as long as the iPod works fine, I have no issues. I had to replace my 4th Gen iPod Nano with a 7th Gen recently due to the 4th Gen finally kicking the bucket, but for me being in the Apple Ecosystem, it works just fine.
I tried using a Flash Drive, but it was a pain trying to sort the files and then looking for them turns into a hassle (especially when you have over 1500 files).

I use a 128 gb slim usb (the ones that are as small as like a wireless mouse adapter) in the center console USB port on a 2015 335i with thousands of songs and as long as they are in .mp3 format they work. Check the file type of the songs and the formatting of the USB drive. Reformat using your PC (you will lose all data!), recopy files, and try again.

I ran into an issue trying to upgrade maps using a USB drive. Turns out the connector part of the drive was too short to make a good connection. Checked some other drives I had and the suspect one was 1/16" shorter.
Try a different drive. |
