Dealer put the license plate on....
So I've told my sales rep countless times to make sure they do not mount the license plate frame to the car since I placed the car on order in mid Nov. I get an email from him today that my car has arrived at the dealer today, I was only a few miles down the road so I went to check it out. First thing I see is the damn nasty big bulky license plate frame screwed into my brand new M Sport bumper!!
They said they will fix it...I ask how? They say they will fill in the hole and do a re-spray. Is this something I should worry about? It's difficult here with the language barrier but this guy was pretty cool and not the typical pushy Italian (no offense) I wasn't mad at him, it was the sales rep that obliviously did not do his job I was pissed at. Anyway, he said the paint being so new and never really been exposed to sun it's nothing to worry about and will match fine. So this was my first experience while getting to see my new BMW for the first time...kind of sucks but tis is life. |

I would demand a new bumper. It will never come out exactly how the factory did it. If you have documentation of your request, show it to the sales manager. This is a big deal to me and I would not take delivery of the car. They ruined your msport bumper!

Lol... same thing happened to me... My family has had multiple BMW's through our dealer and all with out plates. My SA wasn't there the day of prep and the first thing the "lazy" lot boy does is go out and slap the plate holder on my new baby.
Needless to say at first my SA was kinda quiet to me (car was covered) and then dropped on me the issue... They repainted the whole bumper. It may be a little off but it's pretty damn close and there's no holes. So thankfully they took care of it. Cost them (rental car for a week) + (paint and labor) = lot boys wage for a couple weeks.

It WILL match if they have it painted by a BMW-certified painter, and he uses "spray-out" sheets to get the exact paint match. Bumpers are attached to the cars in a separate facility after they roll off the production line, and they're just slightly different shade than the car body.
True story - had an aero lip painted and installed on my 07 E92, and watched painter match his sprayouts against the bumper and the car body - different shades. If they match the sprayouts to the car body, the painted bumper will actually match the body better than from the factory.

Hmm, good info and actually kind of helps put my mind to ease. I was under the assumption they would do the work and re paint there at the dealership so it would be a BMW certified painter but now I will double check. Thanks for the info.

^ Glad to hear you're happy with how it came out. They are doing the same to mine and it will be a certified BMW painter so it should be fine. I already told them I would not take the car if it didn't look 100% factory...it's two very small holes so I don't see any issues.
