you "didn't" want this to happen? You are LUCKY that it did. Now you better itemize everything and make sure you get 100% of the money back you put into it (assuming it's not your fault).

Yeah i know. I was really slowly building this car. I was about to put some nice Rotiform wheels on it too. The other person insurance is called "The General". Heard they suck. Is that true?

Yeah, sucks but can be replaced and then you can do things to that one. You should make sure you itemize and separate out everything. Example - they should pay you for the car and then your GAP insurance covers any variance - if you don't have that and you owe more you need to negotiate. They should be giving you the value to put an exact same one in your driveway.

THEN have them pay for everything you put into the car, (like tint or anything) including installation costs. Don't let them put that as part of the cars value in case you run into the gap insurance part because then you won't get a penny.

two checks!

I don't know anything about "The General" other than they are one of those budget/low cost carriers. I would imagine that *you* as the victim will get decent treatment - they don't want lawsuits.

general insurance is the min state allowed insurance.. Very poor brand and coverage, but should cover your vehicle and gap will cover the rest..

That was a hard hit, glad that OP is OK. F30 has great crash scores, except for small overlap. For 50mph T-bone at passenger side, OP's picture shows that the passenger side of compartment is still holding up OK without crumbling. Also the windshield was intact, how about rear window, was that shattered?

That blue monster was a tank. My head and body did not even move during the crash. Thank god!

Any idea how much is the repair bill? A 2-year old 2016 340i should be worth at least $30k-$35k.

The repair was definitely more than 28k . The car has about 28k miles and was in good shape. But i had a 31k loan that the insurance is taking care of and they are paying me for the parts on the car. Hope for the best!

If you have collision insurance on your car, you should go to them. They will pay for your repair/replacement or whatever. It is their problem to collect from General Shaq.

My point is that whether General insurance is good or bad doesn't matter. Your insurance will deal with you. Collecting from shaq is their problem.

Best thing is you appear to be well. I agree with the others, definitely push to total the car and get yourself something nice.

I have a 340i in metallic grey. I recommend the color. The 440i also looks great.
