Recommendations For Upsizing Tires On 18x8 Wheel Please!

The traction on the square 397 wheels is underwhelming with Cinturato P7 all-season tires. They're not bad, but I haven't owned a car without much wider summer tires in a long time.

So I'm thinking of selling my nearly new 225/45 R18 P7 tires and just putting 245/40 R18 summer tires on all four corners.

Does anyone else run that setup? It'll be on a 2014 335i Sport Line with M performance suspension and the stock 397 18x8 wheels. I mostly want to avoid spending a lot of money on wheels and staggered tires but want to improve my performance.
