I parked in a compact cars spot. The cop thinks a 435i isn't a compact but the EPA says otherwise. And yes I am going to fight the ticket.
Are you fuc*ing kidding me... This cop has nothing better do you? Probably pissed because he doesn't have a 435?

Cars too long to fit in compact car spaces can create problems for other drivers. It doesn't help if you've got a BMW or Mercedes or other luxury car, which can, rightfully or wrongfully, send the message that you don't give a crap if you cause problems for other drivers. The best way to deal with self-appointed avenging angels is to not give them a pretense for getting pissed at you.

I've always assumed cars smaller than Gran Marquis and Crown Vics are "compact" in the american market.
They're usually classified as large, or full size. Below that would be mid-sized, not compact.

Hmm...looks like I was wrong:

Quote:
United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines a "compact" car as measuring between 100 cubic feet (2.8 m3) and 109 cubic feet (3.1 m3) of combined passenger and cargo volume capacity. Vehicle class size is defined in the U.S. by environmental laws in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 40—Protection of Environment, Section 600.315-82 Classes of comparable automobiles.[2] Passenger car classes are defined based on interior volume index or seating capacity, except automobiles classified as a special vehicle such as those with only two designated seating positions.
Hmm, comes out just above 100 cubic feet interior...

Ah, so that explains why the 6 series gran coupe is listed as a "compact" car.

I see trucks and SUVs in "compact" spaces all the time. That's a serious middle finger to everybody else right there.

I thought the F3x cars were definitely compact. Can't imagine you'll pull it off, but best of luck!

Proof that you don't have to drive a BMW to be an AHole.
