2019 440i Coupe
Picked up my new BMW at the Performance Center last month, and the entire experience couldn't have been better. They really go out of their way to make everyone feel special, and as a first-time BMW owner, I was extremely impressed.
Got to the Performance Center bright and early, and upon walking into the lobby, what do I see? My car parked right up front! I was immediately thrilled and didn't want to walk away, but I snapped a few pics before we were ushered to the classroom for brief driving instruction. I'm sure many here have written about the driving experience when doing PCD, but it was very cool, and I can't imagine ever buying another BMW without taking delivery in Greer. Mike Renner was my instructor, and the hot lap with him in the M3 was nothing short of awesome. That guy can make a car absolutely dance. But it was over all too quickly, and my disappointment at not being able to drive more was quickly forgotten as it was time to get back to my new car... My delivery specialist was Nick Wilson, and he was great. Went into enough detail about how to operate all of the car's systems to cover the basics, but not treat me like someone who hadn't done their research during the purchase process. Patient with all of my questions and had cool stories to tell about the brand and his experience with it over his years of working for BMW. Sometime during lunch, our cars were pulled outside, and I snapped a quick shot before heading to a row of waiting X3s for the off-road driving experience. It was a lot of fun, and even though I'm not an SUV guy, I came away impressed with the capabilities of those vehicles. Back to our waiting new cars for a quick drive across the road for the factory tour. It was my first time inside a car factory, and it was pretty amazing to see the complexity and care with which these vehicles are built. All too soon, the day was over, but not before popping up the street to the Zentrum for some beauty shots... Hit the road for the drive back home, and straight to the dealership to drop the car off for window tint the next morning. Tough to let her go so soon, but the results were worth it... All in all, I couldn't be more thrilled with the whole experience thus far, and absolutely love my new car. I hope after the honeymoon phase wears off that the long-term ownership is as positive as the two Honda Accord Coupes that I drove before deciding to make the leap to a premium brand. |

Great car - love the color (same as my current car)! So the 2019 coupe is an F32 instead of a G22? I suppose that makes sense, as the sedans always come out 1 year ahead of the coupes. I'm planning on getting a G20 M340i and taking PCD when that car comes out next March. Thanks for the pictures and narrative - this exceeds my previous expectations on PCD. Where in SC are you?

"Famously Hot Columbia"...not terribly far from the Performance Center. I'm about 4-5 hours' drive from over here in Beach Country, NC - hoping I can talk a fellow CCA member into driving me down there so we can both enjoy the PC experience. Thanks again for the write-up!

You’ve definitely got to do PCD if you’re ordering your next BMW, I can’t recommend it highly enough. I enjoyed it so much I think I’ll do European Delivery on my next one. |

I wanted a new 2-door BMW. The i8 is out of my price range, so that left 2-series or 4-series. I don’t like 4-cylinder engines, so that narrowed it down to M240i and 440i. I test drove both, and the 2 was a bit smaller than I care for, so one choice remained. Couldn’t find an ‘18 on any dealer lot in the country optioned how I wanted, so it became clear I’d have to order one. By the time I made up my mind, the production for the 440i Coupe had just switched from MY18 to MY19, so that’s what I ordered. Does that explain my thought process to your satisfaction, or was there something you’d have done differently in my situation? |

It already in MY18 is a touchscreen.
Similar situation for me as well. If it wasn't for the engine, I would have gone for an Audi (again). Simple as that.
