Nice one.
I'm an hour before your pick up.
Managed to get time off, my boss is also a bit off a car nut.

Nice - you're also moving from an 'R32'? I had the audi equivalent. So looking forward to an F31...

Nice to see another Golf owner, my wife drives a MK6 GTi with Revo stage 2 software.... 300bhp/350lbft...it's fun!

Less than 24hrs until I pick up car, quite excited

Oh and been out spotting EBII F30's today too, saw quite a few '13' reg cars but in particular a 330d on the back of a lorry without plates heading north on M6 near Wigan....looked fantastic...wonder if its someone on here's car?

Yes. Big change. I don't hammer the R32 so often any more and am tired of the 23mpg and £430 road tax. We'll miss the 4wd on occasion but am hoping the 320d is still nippy enough to be fun.

320d is a great engine and has enough performance to keep most people happy in the real world...

lol - as long as my running costs come down a bit, I'm happy. I did briefly consider the 328i but really the lower fuel and road tax won me over - and it's still fairly nippy for a diesel.

The 328i isn't as thirsty as you might think (unless you do a lot of short journeys & town driving). That said, like for like driving will see much better returns from the diesel and it's still a good torquey engine

Ha ha! I came from a line a hot hatches the last being a modifed Megane R26 pushing circa 300bhp. I drive in a more sedate manner these days and a 320d suits my needs nicely and saves me a fair chunk on running costs which is important as i have a new addition to the family. Still has plenty ample pace for me if i need to press on (although not a much the the meg). If i really wanted to still have the occasional blast i would have got the 330d but couldn't justify the additional outlay for that privilage.
