New to BMW

After 12 1/2 years driving a Jetta to 160,000 miles I have made the switch to BMW and picked up this 14 328i xDrive last week.

I hope that this one will last me the same 12 years and 160,000 miles!

First mod will probably be the seatbelt extender so my daughter can buckle herself in with her booster, LOL.

Then I am Looking to change the headlights (Depo?) and trying to figure out the Nav/ConnectedDrive system.

Congrats and welcome.

Use fully synthetic, high quality oil, and change it at least once per year.
Flush out brake fluid at least every 2 years and refill with new and high quality brake fluid.
Keep an eye on your spark plugs and replace as recommended and/or needed.
New air filter at least every year, or sooner if you drive a lot in very dusty areas.
New cabin filter at least once per year as well to keep HVAC system fresh.

Replace worn wearable parts before or at recommended interval, and don't wait until a wearable part finally fails in order to replace it. If a wear item fails because an owner has waited long after the change interval, then other associated parts/items could fail because of that.
I replace any car battery before it's 5th birthday regardless if it's still holding charge or not.

My point is that timely solid maintenance greatly adds to a vehicle longevity and ability to keep well over the long haul and miles.

Enjoy your new-ish BMW!
I'm actually considering a VAG car next year, S3, Golf-R, or GTI, A3.
Of course if BMW brings a RWD 2 series based sedan by next year, then that could sway me.
I have high hopes for the new 3 series, but this time BMW is going to lose me UNTIL THEY PROVE they can create a 3 series like they used to make before the F30.

Yeah. I love the color and the wheels too. Probably one of the nicest stock base wheels out there. I really wanted the estoril blue, but couldn't swing the extra for it.

My next one .

Thanks for all of the advice everyone! I've got all of the service records and just had it in today. The maintenance plan is great.

Are you saying that upgrading the headlights is not feasible. I've seen the depo lights on here, and am leaning towards that, but I haven't seen the light output.

Do they improved light on the road?

Tints, my man. A dark bimmer like that is incomplete without tinted windows.

Congrats, your car looks sweet. No doubt it will make it to that mileage but the only question will be how much it will cost to maintain !

The stock halogens are absolute garbage and downright unsafe at night driving. I have upgraded to full led headlights (pricey option) and they are far better than stock ones. The depot headlights will be cheaper and will come with halogen projector. I have heard people saying they are slightly better than stock ones.

Definitely worth the upgrade, check out my video on it if you need help to do the install yourself!
Thanks! Any pics of the light output?

Make sure you're not impacted by the timing chain issues.
