An M140i will still lose more in value in a year than an M2 will due to supply. The £26,000 price is an attention grabber, sure, but the M2 will likely still be "cheaper" in terms of depreciation.

Depreciation on the M2 is obviously a bit of an unknown at the moment but when things settle down my guess is it will depreciate less than mainstream cars like the M140i/M240i but probably won't hold its value as well as the 1M. However, it's all guess work at the moment and we won't really know the answer for a couple of years! |

No, it' s a gender issue on this one. No grown man would have one as his only car. I could understand it if you also had another (proper) car for day to day. The 1 series is CLEARLY a car for the ladies. I expect there are loads of reviews on mumsnet probably complaining about how ugly it is and how you can't get all your bags of shopping in the boot. The mirrors ar great for applying your lippy though they say. |

Its just not very masculine to be driving a little hatchback and its nothing to do with cost. Any self respecting man will buy second hand 5er or even a 3er (or a hummer) over any 1 series. Gawd and if its your only means of transporting your kids then i despair as its no way big enough to be a family car.

no view on M240i convertible as a mans car when combined with a Volvo estate? also considering an M3 convertible (E93), 440i, S3 or C43 - all convertibles. |

So at 9.8 seconds for 0-100mph the M240i auto must be pretty close to being E92 M3 quick? Appreciate there's more to a car than being fast in a straight line - and as the speed increases I daresay an E92 M3 would pull away - but nevertheless that showing from the M240i is pretty impressive; bit of a pocket rocket and all for less than £30k brand new post-discount...
