iPhone5 "not supported" in my new nav-less f30
Hey guys,
It seems to be that some you can plug in your iPhone5 and play music using only the USB cable. Plugging my phone in simply shows "not supported", anyone know what I can do to get this working?

I believe BMW has recently released a Telephone update to make the iPhone ingrate much more better for the iPhone 5, iOS6.
I just updated mine 2 days ago. Here's the link, hope it helps http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/nav...update_vin.jsp |

If I only knew this before ordering my car (328i Luxury). The salesman was rubbish - told me the car would be able to support my IP5. Of course, he was telling the truth but wish he'd made it clear it was just calls (not music) it would support without the EBT option. I went from a relatively base mode VW Golf which played music through the IPhone, to a £37k premium car which doesn't (without an additional purchase of a Y cable). Anyway not BMW's fault, just my dealer was rubbish.

I have the same problem with my iPhone5. My car does not have BMW Assist or BMW Apps and I get phone not supported. On another forum, I found several folks recommended the Bluetooth software upgrade, but ONE PERSON said they unlinked their phone from Bluetooth.

I earlier stated wrong information given to me by someone else. I think I have it right now. If you have BMW Assist, then the white lightning cable works ok. If you do not have the BMW Assist, for your iPhone5 music to work, you must use the BMW Y cable. To use the BMW Y cable, with your iPhone5, you have to purchase the 30 pin to lightning connector. It is $29 on Apple. For me, this does not work well, because I have to remove my phone case, to fit the 30 pin to lightning adapter into my phone. Apple, has a short cable, with lightning on one end and 30 pin on the other, but it is $39. You can use your white lightning cable from your phone to the car usb and then use a separate stereo cable and this also works the same as the Y cable.

I dont have nav or enhanced USB. I use my 5 via the provided y-cable. I went to best buy and bought the adapter to convert the old style pin connector to the lightning cable and it works great. Adapter was 20 something bucks I think....
