340i with M3 rear lip spoiler

2016 340i xDrive 6MT MPPSK going for an OEM+ look.

I thought the M Performance rear spoiler was too large for my 340i so I ended up getting the OEM M3 rear lip spoiler instead (part # 51628059269). The F80 shares the same trunk lid (same part #) as the F30 so it fits perfectly.

Also deleted the xDrive badge but kept the 340i nameplate.

Went with chrome tips on MPPSK exhaust.

1" drop by Dinan springs and bump stops.

Looks clean! Never realized the M3 spoiler was so small. Haha Your exhaust pipe looks a bit long or is it just me?

Always loved the subtleness of the M3 lip compared to the larger M Performance rear spoiler.

I thought the tips looked a bit long too when I got the car back but it might be an illusion of the chrome. Looks fine from the top and side but who knows.

all of the pics of mperformance exhausts that i've seen stick out like that. i guess they want to make sure you can see the //m branding.

Yeah they definitely protrude further than my stock tips, I guess it's just down to the upgrade having slightly longer tailpipes (or tips)

I think kern417 has it, it's so you can see the engraved M on the tips! Car looks superb by the way!

That's a stock M3 bumper? I thought the flared wheel arches wouldn't line up?

Trunk is the same, lip spoiler is on the trunk. Nobody said anything about the bumper, which wouldn't match up for the reason you stated.

Love the lip.

The tips are "on the long-side of acceptability," but I prefer them tucked in a bit more myself. It's not really an issue to make this adjustment. Maybe we're just interested if that was intentional?

Thanks! That's my thought exactly. It's at the limits of acceptability. Not sure if that's how BMW spec'ed it.

It wasn't intentional at all. Given the option, I would prefer a bit more tucked. Do you need to make a cut somewhere? Push the exhaust back on its clamps?

I'm guessing there's a grub screw somewhere near the concealed end of the tips, release this and see if the tip will push further onto the tailpipe, thus not protruding so much!

Actually looking at all your images, it really doesn't look bad at all... some classic sports cars had tailpipes protruding more than this, which looked pretty cool. It's just personal taste I guess!

Car looks great. I have the same M3 spoiler in carbon fiber. Your tips look a lttle long but not much. I have the MPE exhaust and from the side the tips line up with the longest part of the bumper. I can clearly see the M logo on the tips when standing at the rear of the car.

Me too -- have the M3 spoiler and MPE exhaust and love both. Thought the tips stuck out a little far when I got the car, but am used to it now. As others have said, I presume it's to see the M branding on the top.

I like the clean look! Congrats!

And I had no idea that the M3 shares the trunk (since it doesn't on the M4).

If I put the car on a lift... I'd first loosen the clamp near the rear axles and see if I could just adjust-in a shorter overall length. Hopefully this would provide enough movement to forgo trimming. However, even if I did need to trim 3/4" off the piping to fit the length perfect; that isn't any real challenge. You can execute this task with common hand tools if need be.
