Bootmod3 flex fuel sensor

This may be a long shot since it is so new but I just got the protuningfreaks bootmod3 Alex fuel sensor installed it and everything got on an e30 tune. Everything was great except I can't read my ethanol level when I try and do the steering wheel control the tax drops as it should then doesn't move. Any guesses?

When I press and hold speed control down, my tach immediately goes to the ethanol level. If the tach drops down to 0, then it means the CAN BUS module is not properly connected to the system.

If I recall correctly, the button needs to be pushed and held down to obtain the ethanol content vis Bootmod3 and the stock BMW dash gauges.

Before the Bootmod3 FlexFuel sensor was available, I actually installed a Zeitronix CANBus sensor on my N55 with a separate ethanol gauge on my dash. Also new Precision Raceworks fuel lines from LPFP to HPFP. Most of these FlexFuel sensors use the basically industry standard Continental sensor that's used on many car makes.

I prefer an actual gauge that I can glance at. The Zeitronix gauge fits perfectly tucked away to the left of the steering wheel between the wheel and the light switch cluster. I just lean forward as I drive to see the ethanol percentage on the gauge. See photo.

Dorch sells a B58 FlexFuel sensor that incorporates the Zeitronix controller so it should be easy to buy the Zeitronix gauge kit from Kies and just plug it in. See links.

Hope this helps!

(Choice for FlexFuel comes with lines precut to mount sensor under car where BMW runs the fuel line. It's near the driver's seat under a removable cover)

Ok everyone thanks for the help but I'm just a little slow and didn't know I had to do a custom rom flash I thought I could just run a e30 tune and it would just adjust. But you actually can't even check ethanol if you aren't on a custom rom tune

You can convert any map to a custom rom. If all you're going to do is just check you e level then you can convert even a custom tune map etc. It went give you auto adjustment but it'll let you check it etc.
