CBS on low mileage '15
Hi, all. I've been able to decipher bits of this from searching threads on "sister" forums, but apologies in advance for stuff I should know. I got a liquid blue 320i with nav that only had 6k miles last month, appeared to be a fleet loaner in its former life. Great car, been a Honda guy for a long long time and this reminds me of my long departed S2k except much more comfortable!
Vehicle Status - Service Required showed oil change due at 7k on 12/2017. So, I changed the oil at 6,850 with the engine oil showing yellow. I then reset the oil change indicator and it now says oil change due at 8k on 12/2018. When I did that it moved the Vehicle Check from 24k to 17k on 12/2019. I know this is due to the low miles affecting the CBS logic, and I know that it's normally 2 oil changes and then a Vehicle Check is due. My question is should I reset the oil service required when I hit 8k or should I ignore it when it goes red and do an oil change and vehicle check together around 14-17k miles? Thanks and happy holidays... cheers! |

Service intervals are mileage and time based, whichever comes first. The projected mileage when the time limit is reached is based on previous driving experience. It will change that mileage or the service date if the driving habits change.

Thanks for the info, I'll look out for changes in the milestones as I creep up to 8k. I only drive about 100 miles a week anyway with an occasional weekend roadtrip. I guess the dilemma will be if I get to a "red" engine oil status before it adjusts.
