Noob using Mer

Hi guys,
Just traded in my Audi Q5 for a nice 13 plate f31 m sport in metallic black, so after some exterior cleaning advice

Currently using mguires NXT shampoo then hand drying with Maguires drying cloth before waxing with mer, which is giving good results but looking for a specialist black wax. I've heard and seen good results from dodo juice purple haze so just after your thoughts and advice?

Also what do you use on your alloys ( which are new) so just hand cleaning with the NXT

Thanks guys

I had a jet black Z4 before, it was a flat black but not metallic. To avoid scratches, I washed it with a microfiber cloth and optimum no rinse. Then drive it with a drying cloth, then wax with black canauba wax. It worked pretty well on jet black paints.
For metallic paints, it hides scratches much better and I think you are doing the right thing already, the black wax may hide the sparking and make it more "dull" and less shiny.

I can't offer experience with any specialist black waxes, because I choose to apply coats more often using the wax that I do have - currently Adam's Buttery. When that runs out I plan on switching to Adams H2O guard & gloss, which is more of a synthetic coating and seems right up my alley because it's intended to be very easy to top up during the drying step.

In the summer months, when the issue of black paint getting hotter and evaporating wax faster is exacerbated, I'll do a light wax coat every other wash (washing about weekly). I'm very careful with my wash and dry methods (2-bucket, sheet rinse off the bulk of water and MF the remainder) and this has worked out well for me.

I picked up WheelWax for my alloys, applied twice a year. As a younger enthusiast I once made the mistake of using a regular carnauba, and indeed it yellowed and grabbed dust. With weekly washes I simply hand clean using an old mitt and my car wash suds, the wheels stay mint and the protection is lasting well (still beading). I'd rather not use aggressive wheel cleaner.
