Anyone Else Prefer the 18" to the 19" Rims on the Sport Line??

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the aesthetic advantage of the 19's over the 18's (especially on the f30 chassis), but the 18's look so much more elegant and defined, as opposed to the 19's, which to me, look kind of dull, and allot more "Blah".

I've spent more time debating which wheel style to get, than any other option available; it's now becoming an obsession.

The problem is, when you go w/ the 18's, they look just a tiny bit too small in the wheel well...

Anyone else agree with my observation???

I'd rather have 18's anyway, for cheaper tires, more sidewall and generally better handling.

Exact reasons I was thinking; especially considering our roads up here in MI...

Agreed and plus larger diameter wheels sometimes make the car look weird. Like clown feet on a well-dressed person.

Totally agree, plus these 18" shoes just look better than the 19" alternative anyway IMO.

The eighteens are a great-looking wheel, but I marginally prefer the design and size of the nineteens on this now-bigger car, and the fact that the rears accomodate a wider tire. I'm not sure about the dull adjective; they are a uniform finish, but to me not dull by any means. The eighteens will certainly look great on cars that don't have the nineteens.

I like the look of the 18s better but I don't want 225s out back.

I like the 18s, but I'd take the 19s as first choice.

Truer words have never been spoken. 18" wheels are much better looking IMHO.

Yeah the 18" 397's are even better looking in the fresh! Wish I could get them on the Luxury since we can't have a 328i Sport or 335i Sport here . It is a "budget" line.

I really prefer the 397 design , but I chose the 401 19", because it's a bigger car and the overall look with 19" more harmonious imo. And the rears are a tad bigger, not like 285/295s...just 255s.
I had 18" under my former e90s and 19"under my ex E90 M3, now I have 20"under my current F10.

---->But I prefer the 18"design 397 over the 401 design. Not like night & day. Still ths F30 needs bigger wheels. 18"is the minimum, 19" is just the equilibrium of that car imo.

I'm pretty sure you're getting not 225/45/18 and 255/40/18.
The wheels diameter on F30 is larger than that of the E90 and closer to M3 circumference.

I KNOW RIGHT, I was very mad at BMW for what they did with the 19" there not horrifically bad but they should have done a better job I do love the feel of having mixed tires. So I made amends and got the 19"

Better handling??? Buddy that's definitely wrong 19" will have more Grip on the road due to the larger tires in the back and slightly bigger in the front.

It's not noticeable unless you look closely at it: the benefits are better handling and more traction. Just the rims are a little less appealing that the 18"
