I am not sure if there is a way to clear it but you can always plug it in before you go to the dealer and the tech will prob think it was a fluke.

I didn't try putting it back on so I have no clue of how difficult it will be. One day I might try doing that and try the unplug method.

So now that I installed the DP, at cold start, the idle is harsh. I'm thinking that if the other side was open, it would smooth it out a bit. What is this 'plug' you guys are talking about? I'd rather do that than do the wire gig.

I took a look and the plug is obvious

Now my question is, once you unplug it, do you need to do something w/ the male and female connectors so crap doesn't get in them? I'm not even sure I like it more yet. I'll drive around for a couple days and I might plug it back in. Pics of the plug below...

Unplugging, if like the e90 will throw codes.
Use a surgical clamp on the rubber hose from the solenoid.
Fast and easily reversible.

No vacuum line on f30. Either unplug or remove spring clip and wire tie it.

I've unplugged it twice, but have always plugged it back in before servicing... Dealer hasn't said anything.

So has anyone had a problem with plugging the wire back in when going in for service?

My SA never said anything about it for 3 years when I had my E90. Just picked up my F30 today and unplugged it immediately. If they say anything, just plug it back in.

Why?

I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would want a louder exhaust for a daily driver? Give me quiet power any day!

just unplugged mine...no errors on my dash which is great and it really just gives u full exhaust note on cold start up where as it would typically come from the passenger side only. So ill leave it off unless I have to take it in for something. I hate that it only comes out of one side, should be an option for that setting.

I used a plastic lock strip and put some black electrical tape on the port so nothing gets inside

Just an update for everyone...few days ago I pulled the plug instead of doing this spring wire mod which I didn't really like the idea of, but just an update that I really like the car better this way and a cool plus I didn't see anyone mention is that when you just leave the car in comfort mode you get full exhaust note from both sides but no burble when letting off gas but it is really cool to have full exhaust note in comfort mode. I only drive in comfort mode for like a day after I get fuel just to see how high I can get my MPG or if im doing 2+hr road trip which I then use eco pro.

So you get full exhaust note after car is on for 30-40 secs after a cold start, and you get full exhaust note in comfort mode but minus the burble.

update here on my end as well - just did this and placed electrical tape over the male and female ends to help keep dirt and water out.

sounds great so far. subtle increase in volume but great to hear sport tone all the time no matter what.

just like the e90 version. cool!
