Would anyone happen to know if there is a plug like this for an F15 x50i?

Thanks!

The valve opens after going over 2 rpm. When you're in sport mode, you're starting at a higher rpm so reaching over 2 rpm is easy.

Only way for golf tee to work on f30 is to use metal wire, I used zip ties twice and the exhaust melted it. Unplugging connector doesn't do anything unlike the e90

How so? I had this done on mine, and in fact, it did work. You need to be sure that when you unplug the connector the valve is open, as I have done this mod with both in mind - once with the valve opened, and once with it closed. At the end of the day, the funny thing is that the exhaust sounded best at factory default, without this mod

Cause I unplugged it and it didn't sound loud so I used wire and it sounded much louder.

Where is this plug that I need to unplug for this on my F32?

run the car in sport + for a few miles then shut off. Use flashlight to ensure it's open.

Lol I have an 13' F30 335i with an MPE and I did replug the valve connector back in after installing it.

For the first year the vehicle started with the driver side flap closed and then you can hear both sides after 1-2 min of idling. The passenger side of course always open.

Oddly enough my vehicle has been in limp mode for about 3 weeks now due to a burnt out tuner box that may have affected my charge pressure sensor or worse burning out the DME!! Still being diagnosed.....sure hope it's just a sensor issue.

I am so paranoid to go above half throttle LOL.

But for some reason all of that has allowed the flap to be open on both sides at started up closes after a few minutes of driving until I get on the throttle.

My 435i with a downpipe is annoyingly loud on cold-start, but I think it has nothing to do with the exhaust valve.

On cold-start, there is little to almost no exhaust gas coming out of the left side. After 35 seconds, there is a noticeable mechanical sound much like a valve would make opening/closing, and noise level is significantly reduced. However exhaust volume out of the left tip remains unchanged and it feels like the valve is still closed.

Check your exhaust if you have a clip

Cool Thoughts on exhaust flap.

I can confirm that if you just take the plug out of the actuator, no codes will be thrown and the valve will stay open.

There is no reason for a code to be thrown as it is just an exhaust flap used to reduce noise and can also improve take off speed slightly with one flap closed until it hits its deisred RPM until it opens.

For those of you worried about taking it in like that before a service - I think some man up pills are needed a little...! Its just a plug which controls an exhaust flap, its not like you've reflashed the ecu to increase the boost!

You can also cut two small cutouts in the back box and remove the exhaust packing. then weld the two squares you cut out back on. Not a great mod by any means as it probably wont sound great at all but those of you wanting some extra noise may consider...

I myself am desperately waiting for someone to make a system for a MANUAL transmission. NO ONE has a system for a manual and it is more than depressing now...

Has to be said... If you want more noise then you should have bought a noisier car. Failing that forget trying to keep the exhaust flap open and go and buy yourself an actual exhuast system. If your dealer tells you you're not aloud tell him he's lying because there is nothing about a cat back system that will affect any part of your warranty other than the warranty associated with the original exhaust system (clearly).

Got my 335 about 3 months ago, went ahead and did the mod yesterday and it's great!!

Just unplugged and wrapped one time with electrical tape and pushed it in so it fit snug then wrapped the whole plug. sounds good. no codes.

Great idea! I'm going to do this one myself. FYI, the reason it's louder on cold start whether or not the flap is open is because the turbo's wastegate is open, allowing the exhaust to bypass the turbo altogether for about 30 seconds or so. When it closes after the initial warmup/fast idle, the exhaust then runs through the turbo, which has a muffling effect. So, even with this simple mod, the exhaust note is going to be somewhat subdued compared to when the wastegate is open.

Does the valve behave different on a 6MT than on a 8AT?

And can someone tell me the differences in behaviour of the flap in Comfort vs Sport mode?

I wanted to have both exhaust opened at all time but I wanted a clean look, so this is the route I took. Plus if I ever decided to go back to stock all I have to do is push a button.

In sport or sport + the valve closes when cruising and your foot is not on the gas paddle. Once you press the gas paddle the valve opens

In the 3-series MPE has no flapper valve. You can see it (on the stock exhaust) by shining a flashlight in the left tailpipe of the stock exhaust).
