Hi Guys,

When my iPhone 6 is connected through bluetooth the text tone never plays when I receive a text message. Listening to the radio or connected device there is still no tone. The radio off there is still no tone.

The second the phone is disconnected from bluetooth or I leave the car the phone will play the text tone when it receives a message.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

Yeah its not so much a problem as it is really just how it works. The phone is auto-sending auto over BT when it connects to the car, whether or not you are actually currently using BT Audio as your media source. It would be nice if the car would allow it to gently mute the music to play the alerts but it doesn't.

One time my car was acting funny and it would actually show the "External Dialogue" screen every time my phone made a sound, even the unlock clicks, and it would interrupt the music. Now if they made that happen on purpose and without completely cutting out the music with 2 seconds of empty audio before and after then that would be great.

Hearing no text tone from my phone when connected to BT is getting me in a bad habit of glancing down at my phone every now and then and checking it at every red light.

LOL!!!

Yeah I know what you mean. I wish it would just play the alert sound over the music, then again there are a lot of things I wish could be that aren't, but I digress.

In my '13 328xi, when listening to BT audio on my iPhone 5, the 'ding' from an email plays over the audio. Not sure about a text though.
