Quick update for you N55ers

For those asking about the N55 tune - things are looking good. Dyno testing on the M235i showed solid results +55whp and +80wtq. We are planning on doing some more testing next week and then we'll publish our final results and get the product out on the market.

I have seen a company makes same power with flash for $400. why do you think that big difference

That's one strong result on 91, BMS has avg. 55whp gain with intake+exhaust and (91+100) which is 93 i think !

The +75whp and +100wtq is for the 320i since it's basically a detuned 228i/328i so there is way more headroom we can take advantage of.
My mods are ER FMIC + pipes. Injen intake. Muffler delete.

What stage tune should I get?

Also, most stock dynos ive seen for the 20i have been closer to 200whp stock. is it that your dyno is low reading?

We would do Stage 2 for you with some minor adjustments to the tune to account for your upgrades. This would also allow you to add DP (if you want to) later down the road without having to re-flash.

Different dynos do read differently - ours is usually middle range. Not sure why this car was reading a bit lower but our focus is the difference or gain based on same car, same dyno, same day (i.e. weather). The gain should be similar on your car if we make adjustments.

Yes, looking at the BMS graphs the fuel was basically 95. Cylinder temperatures are a big deal on these cars, especially the M cars. That's why it is such a challenge to make good power all the way up to redline and why the piggybacks struggle on the top end because the ECU is freaking out when is sees what is going on and starts implementing its fail safe protocols like alt maps and adding excessive fuel to cool the cylinder down and if it gets totally freaked out - "Drivetrain Malfunction".

The cooling system is integrated much more tightly in the new ECUs as far as delivering power especially in fuel economy mode. In fuel economy mode when the ECU asks for more torque one of the first thing the computer does is attempt to cool down the cylinder to get more torque rather than just adding more fuel/boost. They are getting so much more complex now as far as the number of variables operating to achieve adding power and/or saving fuel.

I honestly don't know. Who is selling FlexRay ECU flashes for $400? It takes about an hour to open the ECU properly so you don't damage it. Can't imagine that price would be offered for very long because it would be hard to recoup your R&D costs. Maybe they are taking a shortcut and drilling the ECU to speed up the process of getting into it. Honestly just don't know. More info needed to answer your question properly.

What boost levels do the stage 1 & 2 tunes run?

U mentioned that u benchmarked against the JB4. Any chance u can post a Map 5 JB4 vs the stage 2 tune?

interested in stage 1 (no mods)

is the stage 1 a preset map or are you able to tailor the map to individual needs? for instance, here on oahu octane is 92 and increasing low-end and mid-range would be more desirable than top end, for me. how much of a gain in hp/torque would i expect with stage 1 on a unmodded N20? thanks.

Man, this is awesome!!! I have a 320I and dying to get more power, but the right way like a flash. I am not really interested in piggybacks.

It would be cool if you can post a dyno chart for a 320i so we can see actual numbers.

To my understanding, your stating that the 320i will make roughly 260whp and 300wtq? How much boost is added to achieve this and is the redline increased? Also, where does the power start and is it in effect at all times?

Take a look at the graph at the beginning of this post. That is a stock 320i customer car with no other mods.

Been reading this with great interest. With a new 428i GC, the stage 1 tune sounds perfect. You guys are in Anaheim, yes? Do you guys baseline the car at your shop, do the tune and then test again after? Thanks. Should do a tuning day seriously for SoCal cars!

Yes, in Anaheim right across the 5 from Disneyland. Dyno we tune on is at a different location because we couldn't get sound approval at our current location.

Right now we are up for doing baselines and post tune runs for those in SoCal because we want to get more real world data posted up for others to get comfortable with the quality of the product. It really is good, I've been driving our 228i around today - such a fun little car.

Another question. My Impala is programmed but the program doesn't take into consideration the readiness monitor statuses so I have to swap to my stock box to get it smog checked. Does your program allow all these readiness monitors to come up to "ready"? 7 have to be ready for a car to be tested and not auto fail. Important question in Calif I think even if many of the cars here are new like mine and the first smog test is way down the line .....

Sounds like you are onto something. But are you doing any work in Canada? Shipping my ECU is unnerving in of itself, but the possibility of a US border guard ripping it apart because it might be a IED, maybe a little too much;-(
Do you warranty your work and shipping at least?
Cheers

We are only changing a select set of binary data by connecting directly to the ECU so we don't affect the "ready" state of the ECU. So with our Stage 1 you should not have any issues. Of course if you are going Stage 2 you are not going to pass smog anyway but the ECU will be in a ready state.

Is there a reputable BMW shop in your area that would be interested in becoming a dealer? We are setting up dealers globally. Our tunes cover more than just BMW, such as Mercedes and Mini so if the shop has broader interests we can serve those as well.

To answer your question we warranty our work and will return everything to stock, refund all money and provide a $250 Visa gift card (for your trouble) if we cannot resolve issues in the tune that might arise.

We insure all shipping for the full cost of replacing the ECU.

Nick...

Free tune for 228i/328i/428i for vehicle in SoCal

We are looking for an F22 228i or F30 328i or 428i with auto trans in SoCal to test the latest iteration of our tune. We will provide the tune for free along with dyno baseline and post tune dyno run. All our testing so far has been on manual car and we just want to make sure there are no anomalies with the auto cars. If you don't want to keep the tune in your car we will return the car to stock.

PM me if you are interested.
