Hi Guys,

So after finally getting the right parts i have now completed the NBT Upgrade.

Now the hard part where all the coding needs to be done. I have tried using E-sys before however i an very weary changing anything as i dont want to mess up. And to be honest i dont really want to mess around with something i dont understand fully.

I have Enet Cable and will have to download E-sys and the datafiles again. Will i need anything else?

If anyone can help, i was thinking of maybe doing a teamviewer session

Read the guides for changing your FA. You will need to add 609 and change 6NH to 6NS, then writing the FA to your car, this will add HU_NBT ECU.

Then VO Code the NBT ECU (resetting the NBT to default)

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Right-Click on ECU (HU_NBT) => Select CODE.

DO NOT CLICK ON THE CODE DEFAULT VALUES BUTTON.

Sorry I'm happy to advise but I'm not prepared to connect to someone else's car, should I accidentally brick your car! Read the guides to the letter and you'll be fine.

Yes read the guides, also worth noting what system you have upgraded from... As in FA you may have to remove options? I had to remove DAB to get mine to work

It should do if you code it and the NBT has the DAB connectors.

Lite, you only need full if you plan on flash ecu's.

ok so last night managed to get esys finally working. Changed the FA Vales as per kitsters instructions, most options seem to be working.

Last issue, when pressing MODE on steering wheel, this used to show on cluster as moving from phone to radio to media. Now the button doesn't seem to do anything. I have the standard, not extended cluster.

Also would like to start putting some cooler functions on such as:

M Logo - Is this possible on non extended cluster
M Logo - On NBT Startup
DVD Function - To work at all speeds
Display Tyre Pressure on NBT
BMW Online - I have no combox, will i need additional hardware
BMW Live & Internet
BMW Apps
Weather - I have seen somewhere that weather can be displayed
Efficient Dynamics - Need the extra menus as mine only shows the standard with the car. i think its the graph and the road or something?

IMHO the DVD at all speeds is a bad idea.period. Last thing I want to happen is I crash the car whilst having a quick view. As for the Efficient Dynamics consumption graph, it not possible without the 6WA Kombi.

BMW Online, the combox is built into the NBT. So no additional hardware is required but I dont think its possible as the features are subscription based and Traffic Info on maps should be available as standard.

If you dont have the 6WA then youll need to code this to get the buttons and kombi display working:
HU_NBT > BASIS_KOMBI_MMI_LIST = AKTIV

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but is that all the coding required when doing NBT retrofit?

Thanks. Yeah the coding seems ok but doing the actual install looks quite involving. Not as easy as i thought.

One thing to bear in mind, you need to modify the FA in esys with the VIN stored in the NBT you are retrofitting, if you don't then all the FSC codes for Nav, Voice Control & Apps will be rejected when you VO code the headunit.

Bringing up an old post here but wondered if you could help. I have a 2014 F20 which had HU_ENTRY as standard which just included AUX & DAB. I have bought a new unit off of ebay which is what I believe to be the HU_ENTRYNAV unit with the 6.5inch display

I have plugged it all in but the screen is black, Im aware something needs coding but im not sure what.

Any help would be appreciated.
