HUD (head-up display) problems

Has anyone had any problems with the HUD losing information? Mine has removed navigation from HUD and put in the instrument cluster instead twice now. Both times during the dark hours so the HUD and cluster were displaying in red.

I got in the car, turned on ignition, activated navigation and realised the nav info (and possibly more) had dropped from the HUD down to the cluster.

Went to the settings and checked "Display information" for HUD and everything was checked as it should be. Unchecked and checked the boxes again and voila, the information was back at the HUD.

I had this happen once when I first got the car, but I pretty much did what you did and its been fine. I also have had one new dealer update so its pretty much been fine since.

Did you by chance use the other key FOB? If yes and it wasn't set to view in the HUD, then it should be now. If it was the same FOB, I'd take it in to get a software update.

The same key. I only use one them so far.

I will wait a while and see if there is an update but the model, F31, is brand new with updated nav so maybe they haven't sent out any updates yet.

Ah, F31 with new Nav Pro. A entirely new set of bugs forthcoming.

+1. I am already so used to having it that I suffer when driving a loaner without it.

If you use your Nav a fair amount it's great to have. It's really nice to not have to look away from the road for turn instructions. The car on most roads doesn't give you a feeling of speed until you're way over the speed limit so it's nice to know when you're going 90 in a 65 zone.

It's pretty cool too. You can live without it but it's really nice to have.

I have noticed the exact same thing just like you describe it, two or three times and also resolved it by unchecking and checking the navigation box in Display information settings. It obviously should not be like that.
I have not paid attention if it happens during dark hours only, will keep an eye on it. I also drive F31 with the new Nav

This was my first thought also.

Haven't had this problem happen with mine for the past two months and 3,500km of ownership.

Great feature, would miss it if I didn't have it.

For me, the HUD is one of the top 5 features of the car, both from a convenience and safety point of view.

They will make a "total reprogramming" of the car next Tuesday to see if it solves the problem with the navigation info moving from the HUD to the (extended) instrument cluster.

It has happened several times since I posted last time and now in daytime too.

I also checked the rest of the info in the HUD last time it happened and voice command, speed, selection of track, phone etc still displays in the HUD. Only the navigation part moves.

The HUD problem I have been having (navigation moving back to instrument cluster) has been acknowledged by BMW Germany and will be resolved in a soon-to-come update for the software in the car. The previously performed "total re-programming" of the car did nothing to my problem.

Meanwhile, a lot of us in Sweden are having problems with the washer fluid level warning. It warns even when the fluid was topped off the day before. Probably has to do with the temperature beeing very low here right now (-10 to -20 degrees C).

Mine warns about the washer fluid every time I start the car even if it is full.
