so angry with myself, just curbed the hell out of my m sport not paying attention. I felt the suspension pulling different ways, im worried about my alignment now. this is so embarrasing. I have a really good rim repair guy, do you guys think he can fix these? the finish on these is gonna be hard to match. its so dirty i cant look.

Damn, that is like 25% of the wheel!
What happened to cause this? It's hard to get that kind of damage just parking. Shouldn't be a problem to fix though if you have a good guy. |

This is what my nightmares look like. :-(
And in those nightmares, this usually starts with my wife coming home after driving the car and saying "Uh...I don't want you to freak out...but..."

Your dealer should have a vendor who fixes curbed wheels to as good as new for $100-150.

I often see ads for wheels that say "normal curb rash". No, its not normal! If it was, it wouldn't feel like death-on-a-stick when you do it, would it?
a wheel repair shop can handle that no issue...getting an exact paint match is harder. Might be good to see what a replacement wheel costs, just to compare. $150 for wheel repair and imperfect match vs. $400 for new wheel?

Fortunately just some minor rash, no big deal. It was gonna happen sooner or later anyway. |

i know its super hard to do. its coming in the parking garage in my building there are multiple gates for cars coming in and the curb goes out very far. I turned wayy to early. I also hit the front wheel. I wonder what this will cost after repair. I should get my alignment fixed or not? it felt like a crash it was terrible. I got my laser interceptors installed today, was so happy. then this.

that's pretty bad ! I did too on mine, but to a much lesser extent... I am sorry about it, i hope you can fix it and wont need an alignment... but then how do you know you dont need it unless you do one right?

I wouldn't stress about it, its definately fixable. As mentioned, any decent shop can probably fix it. You can do it yourself with some metal filler, OEM wheel paint, clear coat, and lots of sanding. It looks like there's a bit of filling required to bring the lip back up.

If you felt the hit in your steering wheel, then definitely get your alignment checked. Be sure to either let your dealer check or a shop with a good modern alignment rack (that has the 2013 F30 specs available) and a guy who knows what he's doing. Very rare! Most shops have older alignment machines and they rarely pay for the car model updates for their machines.
Regarding your rim, if I recall correctly the outside face of the style 403 19s is polished, not painted. This will make a clean and unnoticeable repair much more difficult. It can be done, but you need a really good repair shop. The mobile repair guys who visit dealers will not be able to fix this right. They can barely do a decent job on the powdercoat finished wheels. |

BMW wheels are typically powder coated. They are not wet painted. Repairs are typically done with wet paint to match the powder color. There are some shops that powdercoat wheels, but this is typically more $. And, I think the lip of the 19s is polished which means an aluminum polishing wheel is required to refinish the edge once its filled. Then it gets a clear on top of the polish. Not an easy repair. |

i have done that before making a right right while arguing with my wife. i still say its her fault. I would normally agree with a new wheel except i know the m sport 19"s wheels are not cheap. dont worry OP, its life it happens. If it bugs you that much than fix, if not life still goes on

That sucks, sorry man. I curbed my rim within 24 hours of taking delivery. My dealer, Chapman/Chandler BMW, has a guy who repairs rims. Mine wasn't nearly as bad as yours is, but I can't tell the rim was ever damaged. He was able to do a great job. Hopefully your dealer has a guy like that. It was much cheaper than a new rim from BMW.
