Rashed Rocker Panel / Skirts - Advice ?

Hey guys, was detailing the car today and noticed I had a nice 1" rash on my rocker panels/skirts. The rash is through the paint, so I have a nice black spot on my otherwise completely white skirt (grr!).

Anyways, I was considering either just having the panel re-sprayed or ordering the M Sport rocker panels from getMWParts (link below). I was curious if this would look awkward or unnatural on the base body kit. It appears the sport skirts are of the same dimensions as the base skirts, just with the added design flair in the panel. Anyway, hopefully someone on here has done this and can give me some feed back.

Thanks!

Dr. Colorchip has several paint repair kits, one of which has a small spatula that allows you to spread their touch-up paint over the "rash" and then use their blending fluid to remove the excess. Best paint repair system I've ever used.

I also think Dr. Colorchip makes the best system. I've used it with a couple of different cars now and have had good success.

Unfortunately the Dr. Colorchip kit for Estoril Blue doesn't match very well, it's too dark.

Yeah, but the OP has Alpine White, so that should be a relatively good match.

FYI, I spoke with a painter at a BMW body shop a few years ago, and he mentioned that the bumpers (and possibly the side skirts) on BMWs are not painted at the same time/place as the body itself. They're painted separately and put on the car at final assembly. For that reason, there's always a very slight difference in color between bumpers and body panels - he showed me "sprayout" sheets that illustrated the difference on my car at the time, which was Sparkling Graphite metallic. It's hard to see in anything other than direct sunlight, but it's important to note so that when repairing body panels or adding body-color spoilers or other add-ons to front or rear bumpers, the color match has to be done very carefully.

I've been wondering about the m-skirts and how hard/easy it'd be to add them. I guess it's not that hard..just have to have them painted. good to know

Thanks for the input guys! I ended up having a local shop re-spray the OEM skirt. She looks brand new again!

Do you mind if I ask what you paid to paint those?
