Anyways, I've adjusted the way I get off the brakes to prevent this from happening. Maybe only hear it once every couple of weeks now. |

I had this issue with my seat, sounded like a squeaky spring when I shifted. Took my car to the dealer and it was actually a loose piece somewhere in the assembly holding the seat down in the rails that the technician tightened and now the seat doesn't shift or squeak anymore.

Having owned Acura, Toyota, Subaru, VW, and now the F30 in our family, they all rattled to some degree EXCEPT my wife's now-departed 2011 VW Touareg TDI. Every part of that vehicle felt like it was hewn from solid granite; turns out it was spewing deadly pollutants, but at least we sold it right before the emissions scandal broke.
FWIW, the F30 is probably the worst of the bunch for rattles. It seems like the culprit is usually wire harnesses that sit against hard plastic panels. |

At my first appointment, I'm going to have them check it out, just to make sure there isn't a loose piece.

Mine is a Munich build. I have 4,000+ miles on it, and haven't had any creaks, squeaks or rattles. It's tight. My only current problem is a rear bumper ding from a shopping cart someone left me.
I wouldn't put up with any defects either. I'm with you on taking it to the dealer and getting all the creaks corrected. |

My 2014 335i has all the same creaks rattles. Got rid of my modded WRX cause that car was a rattle box and it drove me nuts after 3 years, but my F30 is nearly as bad in stock form. Very disappointing.

I look at it this way. What were really driving is basically a 320i with options. The F30 body and trim is the same as you would find on the stripped $33K base model.

My 2014 SA build has absolutely no creaks/rattles as of now... Hoping it stays that way!
As for the exterior rattling with the bass turned up, I think any car will do that. It's bass. It vibrates stuff. Last edited by donkey; 05-19-2016 at 06:35 PM.. |

My 340 was delivered in mid-Sept 2015, one of the first delivered. So far, bullet proof through 8K+ miles with no rattles/squeaks, etc. I am not crazy about the new I-drive controls compared with my 07 E90 - just way too much stuff that 90% will never use and not terribly intuitive, but otherwise, a fantastic car, just like my predecessor E39 and E90.

My 335i Msport had more creaks especially around the glove box area.
My 340i Msport is a good bit quieter, very very nice and I love it. Both have the HK audio system which recommend and it really helps with eliminating the quieter occasional squeaks. IMO the 340i is more solid/quieter compared to the 335i. |

for door creaks just get gummi pfledge. I got BMW branded some time back but you can get OEM as well I believe.
Spray and wipe on the rubber door seals. that's it. Don't polish the metal of the car body that these comes into contact with the seals and don't use silicon either. Had the issue on my E39 and current F10. Last for years. only had to recoat again a little after 4 years on my current car. Easy fix and I guarantee it works. |

My 340i is generally quiet, but does creak a little bit near the radio. Seems to happen on larger bumps and whatnot.

Doors had a mind of their own
I had a 2016 340i Msport for a grand total of 4 days. On day #3 it was in service due to a faulty reading that the passenger door was open(was shut and locked) and the driver door was unlocking and locking at will.It needed to have a control module replaced, part needed to be ordered. I was under the 5 day return policy and for me any car that has electronic issues in the first week has to go. Gave it back and went with an X5.

My F30 335i Msport had a distinct rattle right around the glove box and it was at it's worst when the outdoor temps were very warm/hot. It was a bit annoying from time to time, but I enjoy listening to music at higher levels so it wasn't bad for me. Overall my 335i Msport was fairly quiet for a sport sedan. It was too loud for a premium brand imo, but mainly due to the level of wind and road/tire noise. My 340i Msport has been quite quite actually, quieter than even my 335i. Wind noise at highway speed is less, but it could be even quieter for a premium brand. Tire noise of course is related to tire type, so if one is running UHP summer tires, then there will likely be more road/tire noise or roar. When I switch out my Msport RFT summer performance tires for the Conti UHP AS non RFT's the tire noise was/is just a bit quieter. However, I still think BMW needs to add more sound proofing in the wheel wells as there seems to be a good amount tire noise, and it should be quieter. The hands free BT mic is excellent in the 3 and 1-2 series. My brother just got a brand new Honda Accorn, sorrry, Accord, and people have a tough time hearing him during hands free phone calls. But, I digress. |

I'm not sure if I'm more hyper sensitive to these creaks now but I'm noticing a lot more. Seems to only happen when the car sits in the sun all day and all the interior panels are very hot. Going over small bumps seems to cause the wood trim near the iDrive screen to creak a lot (almost sounds like little bits are snapping). I'm assuming there is too small of a clearance on one of the parts that is expanding and pushing against another piece.
However, when driving at night it's completely silent. |

Does anyone have any creaks/noises coming from the driver door? I sometimes get this weird hollow sound when driving over certain bumps that cause large vibrations into the cockpit.
