Hybrid 3
Is it just me or does anyone think it would be awesome to have the hybrid 3 for the performance boost? I can't believe more people are not talking about this. It's a wolf in Sheeps clothing.

too expensive, too long of a wait, no M-sport, only auto, as per reviews not justifiable mpg savings...i think that covers most of the bmw buyers

All expectations are that it will be slower; more weight, very modest total power increase, less aggressive final drive ration which favors gas mileage over performance, etc. C&D, for example, expects a slower 0-60.
Buy it for the technology, not for performance. |

I like gadgets too. If BMW throws out a $7K incentive on it (stranger things have happened), I'm ready to sign up. I'll give up a slight bit of performance for something a bit different, and techy.

This vehicle makes no sense. If BMW was serious about combining performance with efficiency, they'd have built this around the N26, not the N55. That would (conservatively) put the car in the mid-to-high 30s for mpg, potentially into the low 300s for hp and torque, and also offer a weight savings compared to the N55-powered vehicle we're getting. Of course, the concern would be cannibalization of the 335i's market.
Alas, "EfficientDynamics" is just a marketing slogan at this point, and not a serious guiding principle.
