Breaking from 2012 NAIAS: F31 3 Series Touring is a GO for US. The X6 M50d is a NO
BIMMERPOST NEWS Breaking from 2012 NAIAS: F31 3 series Touring is a GO for US! X6 M50d is a NO Here's some great news for the 3 series touring fans in the US - the US market will receive the F31 3 series touring! BMW's decision to bring the 5 Series GT to the US and nip the F11 5 series touring in return had us all a bit worried whether the 3 series touring to be unveiled later this year would share a similar fate. F31 3 series Touring coming to the US Fortunately, Paul Ferraiolo, Manager, Product Planning & Strategy of BMWNA, confirmed with us during 2012 Detroit NAIAS that the next generation F31 3 series touring will make it stateside again: "It's coming, we're not gettting rid of it, we love it", Ferraiolo said when we asked about the next generation 3 series touring. More from Ferraiolo: "The touring buyers - in terms of their passion for their touring model - they love it and feel very strongly about it." X6 M50d won't make it stateside There's some bad news however, for a car not even announced yet. The X6 M50d and M550d models which BMW have been teasing lately won't be available in the US. Matt Russell, BMW M Brand Manager told us that the chances of the M50d models making it stateside are "slim to none". And Paul Ferraiolo said: "Right now, it's not coming to the US." Rumors suggest that BMW will unveil more details on the X6 M50d on January 19th. Stay tuned for more coverage from NAIAS. |

All the X6 M50d should "make it stateside", atleast for their post production test drives

It's already been said that there will only be one engine for the US market (true for the E91 also), which would certainly appear to be the N20. I would love an M Sport 328i, but could make a Sport Line work if there's no M-Sport.

Yes Please. I am OK even without M sports package. I would have got the 335i Turing over the 328i in heart beat. While I love it, it doesn't have the punch that I expect from a BMW.

What great confirmatory news about the F31!!
If the F11 is anything to go by, the F31 will be quite attractive. A little more style, better proportions and better performance and mpg than an F25 would be with the N20. I'd love a manual, M-sport. Probably RWD as I can tolerate winters in New England with good tires for the few days I drive in bad snow. Now I'll really have to wait and hold on to my E90...

This is very good news for those of us on this side of the pond. Now I just need to convoke my parents that it would be a better decision to buy this over the F25 when it comes time to replace my mom's RX330. It'll likely have more cargo capacity, be more fuel efficient, and look better than the F25 as well.

best news I have heard all day...
Now if only an Msport with a smaller diesel and manual would magically appear... But, I'll live with this for now. I am sure an Msport option will eventually show up...

Give me 335i Touring, 6MT, X-Drive, M-Sport and I'll sell my S4 Avant. I really want to come back to BMW, but I need something between a 335i sedan and an X5. And I agree wih the poster above about marketing the Touring model properly instead of complaining that Americans don't buy enough wagons. inform them of the benefits over an SUV - handling, reduced weight, etc. Some of the fastest Autobahn burners in the motherland are Avant/Touring/Estate cars.

Well, hopefully they will this time not be so stupid and bring a F31 M3 TOuring; otherwise I'll once more have to switch to Mercedes and buy a C63 AMG T Modell.
Instead of experimenting with such stupid studies as the current E9x pick-up M3, they'd better consider the needs of their customers. Hey Munich.....it's a shame to have a garage where some M cars sleep side by side with the rival from Affalterbach just because you are not able to provide what people really need. |

This is good but I still wish it were the F11.

The E92 M3 pickup wasn't a study in anything. It was created as a one-off for fun by BMW M engineers and nothing more than that.

Well sorry for the wrong words.....it doesn't change on the principle that this pick-up ranks among what I call "cars the world doesn't need".
