Cold Weather issue with tune true or urban legend

I've read various posts that refer to or ask questions about problems with BPS and/or Dinan (et al) tunes for N20; with regard to cold weather - but not follow-up info.
Is this fiction, an inherent characteristic of motor/BMW and occurs tune or no tune, or is there something of substance to these posts. It's -25C this morning and while I let my car idle for 3 min. (if anyone cares, that's the max allowed by local bylaws), my non-tuned car as 100%.
Anyone able to fill-in the blanks or wipe the slate clean??

I just had a Dinan tune installed last week. It was a whopping nine degrees Fahrenheit. I have a 2012 328i and it runs like a champ.

Just a note on the idling time bylaw, in Ottawa the max time is 5 mins UNLESS the outside temperature is -5 C or lower. May be similar in your area, lookup the bylaw and read all the amendments.

I only do about 30 seconds of idling in my 435 F36 with Pkit, mostly because I am usually frozen to my bones and the quickest way to heat up the car is to drive it.

Actually, it is now 1 min. in Toronto - not that it's ever enforced.

But thanks for the feedback on the tune - it sounds a bit dodgy; but with the level of complexity that is the norm with modern cars, strangers things can and have happened. None-the-less, I'm still old school and let the car reach operating temp before getting heavy with the right foot,

Specifically with Dinan tune, which I have, it will only tune the power when your engine is properly heated up. When the engine is cold and still warming up the car reverts to stock.
