Car insurance claim

Hi guys not really related just wondered if anyone on here has had anything similar? So last year in July so almost a year ago I was parked in a supermarket carpark and had an Audi A3 hit my car. I know this as when I came out of the supermarket my car had been hit from the front and pushed into a lamp post, as I was checking my car the Audi drove off and a coach driver seen the whole thing and ran over as the car drove off but he only caught the first 3 letters of his number plate but wasn't 100% sure.

We done some reg checks and matched an Audi A3 with same colour so assumed it was that, since then I've seen another Audi A3 a couple weeks after with damage that would match where he hit my car but different number plate and in my area so makes since.

Anyway so since then I have change car to a 440i and my claim is still open, my insurance has renewed and has gone up from £5-600 to £1400ish because the claim is still open. Is this normal for a claim to be open for this long or have they forgotten about it?

Did your insurance pay you for the damage? Did you pay a deductible and have the damage repaired? Did the person you found admit to fault?

Sorry, yes my insurance paid to repair my car. I paid my excess and haven't got that back as the guy who hit my car wasn't kind enough to leave a note or anything and drove off.

Very strange as the coach driver said he hit my car then reversed back into his space as if he was waiting for me, while I was assessing my car he drove past me hence how I seen the car but at the time I was too busy looking at my car so didn't realise it was him to catch the plate

What do you mean your claim is still open? You get the car fixed, you pay the deductible, the insurance pays the rest. End of story.

Because my car was hit but the reg we got that matches the car they're denying it saying they want more evidence as the witness isn't responding. That's what I thought it seems odd as I went to my insurance logged in, and says it's still an open case
