The fan slows to a lower setting, still blowing cool air. If the thermostat is set an a low temp and the cabin hasn't been cooled to that setting, the motor will restart after a brief period and the fan will resume to it's prior speed. If MAX cooling is on, ASS will not engage at a stop.
I believe this is all documented in the manual. |

In the F30's, the AC units have been detached from the engine so the AC should stay at the same temperature that was set when the car was functioning.

I was wondering why my car would start back up randomly at lights, that is probably it.

^^ this. Auto Start/Stop will be disabled when it's too hot outside so the driver doesn't have to seat in hot spa.

The car engine will restart if the AC is not cold enough.

AC Keeps Chilling
Here is the excerpt from BMW TIS technician training files:
-To maintain the climate control of the passenger compartment when the engine is off, for vehicles with automatic start/stop function, a cold accumulator, known as the storage evaporator is installed.

So there's a sensor that monitors my interior and shuts down my ASS if it's outside operational tolerances? Talk about a "back up" system.
(Sorry... couldn't resist) |

I just downloaded the owners manual. (pp61-63). There is a button on top of the on/off switch that you can use to shut off the stop/start feture. The manual also says that when the car is stopped, the AC fan function will be reduced.
